Abander TagControl 2.9 description
Abander TagControl 2.9 offers a powerful application which has the function of monitoring the multimedia library and editing .mp3, .ogg, .wma, .asf .ape .mpc .flac tag and supporting FreeDB.You can quickly and easily organize your music collection, and complete the tag information for each and every file with all the best tools available. Some of these tools include filtering the view of files to work on by file type or all at once, renaming files according to their tag information (supporting folder structure), populating tag information from filenames, finding album information in Internet, easily creating Playlists, synchronizing ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, using the word replacement wizard to change many tags at once.
Major Features:
- Tag Editing
- You can edit, delete or add tags in a single file or in several files simultaneously. These files can be of different file types, since the program automatically distinguishes between them. Edited fields will on be written in the proper format (for example, you cannot save image or lyrics fields into ID3v1 tags). Choosing files is the same as it is in all standard Windows programs.
- If only one file is selected, the tag editor will automatically open in single file mode. (The checkboxes near the fields will not be visible).
- If multiple files have been selected, the tag editor will open in multiple file mode, and there will be checkboxes near each field. Check the box for only those fields what you want to change. Checking the checkbox makes that field editable. Fields that have been left unchecked will have no changes made to them. Pressing the "Save Tag" button will change tags in all selected files. If you choose a folder you will be in multiple file editing of several files.
- You can visually edit tags.
- For tag editing you have your choice of four different interfaces. All of them are similar, but some are more convenient in certain cases. Whichever method of editing you choose, is up to you.
- Viewer/Editor
-
- The Viewer/Editor appears in the bottom of the main form, and offers an opportunity of editing of the basic fields (Track, Title, Artist, Album, Year, Comment).
- Tag Editor
-
- The Tag Editor allows for editing of the basic fields (Track, Title, Artist, Album, Year, Comment), but has additional buttons for navigation to the next or previous files. You can also access the export tools from this form.
- Advanced Tag Editor
-
- The Advanced Tag Editor offers editing of all of the basic fields as well as the following advanced fields (BMP, Subtitle, Remixed, Original Album, Language, Cat. Description, Original Artist, Lyricist, Original Lyricist, Band, Conductor, Composer, Copyright, Link, Lyrics, and Image). This form also has the navigation buttons.
- ID3v1 and ID3v2 Tag Editor
-
- The ID3v1 and ID3v2 Tag Editor allows for all of the basic fields (Track, Title, Artist, Album, Year, Comment) to be either copied from on to the other, or cleared. You can navigate to the next or previous files as well.
- Rename Files
- Renaming files depending on their tag information.
-
- For example: Track_01.mp3 is a meaningless track title, however if the track is renamed: Madonna_Hollywood.mp3. This filename is much more informative.
- Using your own mask for renaming.
-
- There are several pre-defined masks you can select from the drop down list. If none of these is what you are wanting, it’s easy to create or edit own, more complex masks.
- To arrange all Artists and their Albums in separate folders.
-
- When renaming it is possible to create separate folders, or insert the text or names of existing directories.
- For example, if your tracks from several albums are all in one folder. It is usually difficult to find one file among several hundreds files. (However there is a special function of this software available for this purpose, if you do prefer to organise your collection in this way. Look here>>> for more details.)
- Supposing you want to arrange all tracks into folders based on the artist, and then by year and album, you would use a mask such as:
- -
- Your file structure would then end up looking something like:
- Jamiroquai2001 A Funk Odyssey01 - Feel So Good.mp3
- If you downloaded music files in one folder (for example: c:MyDownloadsMP3 ) and want to rename and move the files to your main collection directory (eg. e:MyMusic ) you can use the mask:
- e:MyMusic -
- This will relocate all files to subdirectories under the e:MyMusic folder.
- File name to Tag:
- This is a very powerful, convenient and fast way for updating tag record. It is used to update tag records from the name of a file or directories. Commonly retrievable information can include Artist, Album, Title, Track.
- Only fields which are explicitly set in the mask are edited, this ensures that tag information already present in the file is not unknowingly or accidentally changed.
- Mask for filename only.
-
- If you are only wanting to get information from a filename, use a mask of the type: -
- And the program will not consider the full path of a file. It will only consider the filename part i.e. 10 - Comforting Lie.ogg
- Mask for folders and files.
-
- If you want to get some of the information from the folder names, i.e. Artists and Albums etc, then use the symbol for division of folders in the mask. For example a path of c:DownloadsNo DoubtReturn of Saturn10 - Comforting Lie.ogg, and mask: -
- Playlist generator
- In the current version of the program, you can easily create playlists and keep them in any directory. The program will automatically make a proper directory, if necessary. You can keep only the selected files or all files at once. In the options of the program you can choose a format for the playlist (m3u). It is also possible to use expanded or simple formats. You can also choose how to save the file names. Relative formats or full formats can be used.
- Relative format.
-
- The relative format of the name of a file will be saved in relation to the directory of a playlist.
- For example: ..albumtrack1.mp3
- This format is convenient for using when there is a probability that the album might be moved to another folder, hard drive, or onto a CD. Thus the relative arrangement playlist and tracks files should be kept, so you can always use the playlist, regardless of where you have created the album.
- Full format.
-
- This is the full name of the file, including all directories.
- For example: C:downloadalbumtrack1.mp3
- You should use this format when your collection is always on one disk and in constant directories. If you copy the playlist, together with the tracks, onto other drives (or a CD) the names of files will change, also the playlist will not be playable.
- Information:
-
