MusicTuner 4.8.3

MusicTuner 4.8.3 is a basic looking freeware application that finds MP3s from the internet to listen to or download. It also features a basic library and playlist function, and a web browser.

The Music Search feature is the main one, and with a simple interface, you type in the artist or track you'd like, and MusicTuner finds what is available online. Double clicking plays the song - it usually takes a couple of seconds for them to start - and right clicking pulls up a nice range of other features. There is a Google search, lyrics search, Wikipedia search or you can download the track directly to a folder of you choice.

These additional searches take you to the MusicTuner browser, which is really basic, but solid and glitch free. It won't be replacing Firefox, but is useful as an integrated part of the program. There is also a Local Library tab, where you can browse your downloaded songs and put them in a playlist.

MusicTuner is a very basic looking program, which does its job of finding MP3s to download well, but is missing some features. While the search engine is good, you can't select multiple songs to download, and it occasionally pulls up tracks which won't play. The library feature is basic compared with most media players - it can't display artist or album info, meaning you need to navigate by song title only. This makes it hard to navigate a large library.

Despite its simplicity, the search and download function is easy to use, works well, and the program as a while is lightweight and fast.
