Photo DVD Creator 8.55

Photo DVD Creator 8.55 is an useful tool which is easy to use photo to dvd software. You can quickly and easily create DVD movie discs featuring your own photo slideshows. Create a slideshow complete with transitions, music, effects and menu, and burn disc for sending to friends. All designs only need three simple steps.

The user interface of the application is organized as steps 1, 2 and 3.

In step one a project is created by loading a particular album or a selection of photos. All the photos are displayed on the interaction panel to make it easy to do a final visual selection by adding or deleting individual photos.

Settings that include video format choices such as NTSC/Pal and photo display and transition durations in seconds can be set at this stage. Several transition effects can be added at this stage. These effects can be chosen individually for each photo or one could let the package choose a random effect from the library to each of the photos. There’s a simple list of music to be chosen from. Associated controls let you chose by going up/down the list. The current list has only one mp3 though. Adjust option lets one touch up the contrast/ brightness/ gamma corrections before committing to the DVD. Color corrections and rotation/ flips also can be added.

Step 2  It is a review stage after adding a menu and the interface/ screen is fairly easy to use. And then the final burning stage, the application has a DVD burner built in.

Step 3: While trying out the slide transition effects, when you change an effect there is a pronounced flicker on the display window showing the effect.This is quite annoying. Though there is a background color parameter, it is set at black currently- it’d be nice to be able to choose the same. Choosing music from one’s own collection would have been nice. As is, the music choice list contains only one mp3 file. Looks like it’d be a part of the package but no indication of how one could add or remove files from the same. Meanings of two settings named “image cutting” and “image amplitude” were not clear, besides some texts on the right of these slider controls were also not fully visible. Looked like “pixels”, that does not add to the meaning, particularly for the “image amplitude” control.

Fairly easy to use and simple application, overall rated at 4 stars.
