Break 1.32 description

Break 1.32 enables you to work more effectively by recording your work times and reminding you to take a break when you have been working for over a set time. Work can be divided into an unlimited number of different categories, with maximum work capping for each category, plus a recorded total for each of the last seven days, as well as an over all total, average, and percentage. This enables you to know how long you are on your computer, and what you do most while on it.

In addition, Break totalises time at work, time on break and also time that the computer is unused. The timer can be set from 1 to 120 minutes and can remind you using a window and any common sound file to get up and go for a walk, have a coffee, go home, go to bed etc. For those that need that extra push to stop working, Break can blank the screen as well. Text logging, target time notification (with automatic calculation as well as manual), random alert sound, random alert text, auto reset, file alerts, micro breaks, file logging & auto boot are also supported. Break is written in Assembly Language for maximum efficiency.

Major Features:
  1. Virtually unlimited number of work types. For each type data is stored for;
    • Name of the work type
    • Maximum time that you want to spend on this type
    • Notes about it.
    • Data for the last seven days as well as an overall total.
  2. Any work type can be selected throughout the day.
  3. Work types can be re-named, copied... or deleted.
  4. Time that you are not working is tallied as well, as well as time that you are away from the computer.
  5. A reminder can be set to tell you when you have exceeded a set maximum break time.
  6. Computer activity can be used to determine if the user is on the computer or not, but this can be switched manually if preferred. The time that Break uses to decide if the user is active or not can be changed.
  7. The "Away" mode can be temporally disabled with the "At Meeting " function.
  8. Automatically calculated for total work, total away, total break and each work type is an average work per day and percentage of time spent.
  9. Daily work totals can be logged to a text file as well as a work averages summary.
  10. Notes on the days work can be logged as well.
  11. A daily target can be set; this can be done manually or it can be automatically calculated using the recent work average.
  12. The work total can be reset if you want to tabulate by project.
  13. Break can be controlled via the system tray icon or via the main window. Likewise, a detailed view of Breaks status is shown on the main window, and the tray tooltip shows a summary. Times can be displayed as fractional hours or as minutes.
  14. The main window can be set to be on-top of other windows and transparent as well. (The degree of transparency is configurable.)
  15. Time that you are not working is tallied as well, as well as time that you are away from the computer.
  16. Integrated break reminder that supports micro breaks.
  17. For the main break a window is shown, and the text on this window can be customised. It can even be selected randomly from a user provided list.
  18. A balloon tip is show instead for the micro breaks so they aren't too distracting.
  19. Both break types can play a sound file (most sound files are supported) which can be a specific file or it can be randomly selected from a folder. Alternatively Break can play a system sound or make no sound at all.
  20. The main break reminder can also be used to run a file.
  21. There is a snooze function, the time of which can be varied.
  22. For those that want to be interrupted, Break can blank the screen forcing you to stop work.
  23. The screen size and position and other settings are saved for convenience.
  24. Multi-user setups are supported and Break will run without any problems on a low privilege system and Windows Vista.
  25. Break is written in 100% Assembly Language and is very small and memory efficient. The program itself is about 100KB!
  26. Break can be easily run as a portable app from, for example, a USB key; it does not even need to be installed! Simply select "Extract" from the installer and then copy "Break.exe" wherever you want! Our installer also supports installation on Window Vista without UAC prompts, as well as installation on low privilege logins.
