Budget 4.4.1 is designed as a great tool that can be based on the tried and true "Envelope" method of budgeting - a much easier way to see where your money is, where its needed, and where it went.

In addition, Budget is a personal finance application based on the proactive envelope model rather than the reactive register model used by other home financial programs. It helps you setup and live by your budget the way most people learned to budget. You define income sources and allocate portions to your envelopes. You write checks from each envelope when the bill is due. The main window shows at a glance if you are keeping to your budget.

Moreover, Budget doesn't force you to follow a budget, but it does show you exactly where you're spending your money.

1. Variable Pays: Handles pays that vary in frequency and amount.
2. Bank Account Management: Record checks, debits, and deposits, and easily balance your checkbook.
3. Reminders: Repeating transactions such as monthly bills can be set up as reminders.
4. Define Pay Sources: Set up your income to automatically distribute funds to various envelopes.
5. Print Checks: Print personal or business checks, including an image of your signature, on any printer.
6. QIF Import: Convert data from other applications, or download your transactions from a bank.
7. Automatic Backup: Keeps a copy of your last data file.
8. Multiple Bank Accounts: Define as many bank accounts as you need.
9. Credit Cards: Track your credit card spending, and stay out of debt.
10. Reports and Statistics: See how well you are keeping within your budget.
11. Spring-Loaded Envelopes: Using drag and drop to transfer money, group envelopes will spring open.
