WHOS-IN Pro In Out Board 2009-05A is a useful program for businesses that need to keep track of whos in and whos out of the office.

With WHOS-IN there is no more time wasted checking a wall-mounted Office Board to see if someone is In, Out, or at Lunch... all the information you need is presented on screen in an easy to read format. Having a snapshot or status view of your co-workers whereabouts makes it possible to give better information to callers, and to avoid putting telephone calls through to employees who are not at their desks.

WHOS-IN also reduces wasted time when an employee needs to find a co-worker to talk to him or her. Setting your (or others) status is VERY simple, fast, and intuitive, ensuring that the program will be used consistently. A simple Out to Lunch notification requires as little as one mouse-click, and you are on your way.

WHOS-IN can also set your Status to IN when the program starts, and OUT when it shuts down, which further enhances its ease-of-use, and gives the added benefit that people do not need to remember to update their own status at these times.

WHOS-IN can also access remote copies in branch offices across your high-speed (T1+ preferred) Wide Area Network, allowing you to examine the status of people at an interstate or inter-city location. Imagine the time and money saved in long distance phone calls if you already know someone is On Vacation for example. Equally, there is no need to restrict the use of WHOS-IN to just people either... You can just as easily keep tabs on Vehicles, Laptops, Cell Phones, Meeting Rooms, or just about any other item you care to think of - the potential uses are almost limitless.

WHOS-IN is designed to be easy to use, however it is also highly configurable, with user defined colored Status buttons on the ToolBar, Groups or Departments displayed in Tab format, and your custom company logo for the background.

Requirements:

• SERVER:
• • Windows compatible network server capable of supporting UNC (Universal Naming Convention) path names such as: Win95, 98, ME, 2000, NT, XP, 2003 Server, Vista, Novell 4.x and others. (Check your server is capable)
  • Approximately 15Mb hard disk space.
  • NOTE: No applications actually 'run' on the server (unless the server also happens to be a shared PC on a peer-to-peer network).
• WORKSTATIONS:
• • Windows NT, 2000, XP or Vista.
  • Win95 and Win98 may also run *IF* Office/Access 2000 *OR* the MS Jet 8 Service Pack has been installed.
  • LAN Card / Network connection.
  • Pentium 100 or greater preferred.
  • 1024x768 screen resolution (recommended)
  • NOTE: Under normal circumstances NO files are copied to the workstations. Only an Icon (linking to the user.exe file on the server) is required on the workstations.
• REMOTE SERVERS:
• • Same as server above, but also including HIGH SPEED (Megabits per second) WAN (Wide Area Network) connection. (Microwave or Optical Fiber preferred)
• NOT RECOMMENDED:
• • WAN (Wide Area Network) connections using ISDN or slow DSL.
  • RAS (Remote Access Server) dialup connections using a MODEM.
  • NOTE: The data transmission speed for both ISDN (64 & 128k) and modems is too slow for acceptable response times due to the amount of data transmitted.
• Peer-to-peer Network Limitations:
• • Windows XP is no longer recommended as a peer-to-peer server for WHOS-IN due to the simultaneous connection limit (20 users for XP SP1 and 10 users for XP Service Pack 2).
  • Our recommendation, is to run an OLD PC with Win98 as your WHOS-IN server, which bypasses the XP limitations.
  • If you do end up using an old PC running Win 98 as your WHOS-IN server, please ensure it is NOT also set up as a print server. If it is, and someone prints a large document, the buffering / printing process consumes 100% CPU cycles - leaving nothing for WHOS-IN database updates etc (which in turn causes errors for your WHOS-IN users).
