Gammadyne Mailer 34.1 offers you an ideal solution which can be used for running email campaigns. It can send an unlimited number of personalized messages, as well as process virtually any type of incoming email, including sign-ups, opt-outs, and bounce-backs. The mailing list can be in a database, text file, or CSV file, and there are a full set of tools for adding, changing, and removing members. The internal SMTP engine supports multi-tasking, load balancing, HTML, recipient filtering, throttling, and much more.

1. Message personalization (mail merge): More advanced message personalization is possible with "G-Merge", Gammadyne Mailer's powerful built-in scripting language.  G-Merge can manipulate data in almost any way conceivable.  The versatility of G-Merge at generating complex personalized emails is unparalleled.  Here is a partial list of G-Merge's features:
   
2. Database integration: Gammadyne Mailer integrates directly with virtually all databases, including Access, Act!, Centura SQLBase, dBASE, Excel, FoxPro, Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.
   
   • Database integration has many uses, including:
   • Outgoing emails can be personalized with database data.
   • Data from incoming emails can be added to the database.  This is very useful for automating mailing list sign-ups, processing form data, etc.
   • Recipients can be removed from the mailing list.  This can be triggered by incoming email (opt-outs or bounce-backs) or manually from Gammadyne Mailer's user interface.
   • Recipient data can be modified/updated by incoming email or manually from Gammadyne Mailer's user interface.  When performed automatically, the user will typically set up Gammadyne Mailer to search a database column for an email address, then modify another column on the row (if a match is found).
   • Filtering:  clauses can exclude certain recipients based on database values.  For advanced users, you can specify your own SQL WHERE clause, or even the entire SELECT statement.
3. Automated incoming mail processing: Gammadyne Mailer has the versatility to automatically process virtually any type of incoming email, including bounce-backs, sign-ups, and opt-outs.  Here are just a few of the things it is capable of:
   
   • Email can be obtained from a POP3 or IMAP4 mail server, or directly from the hard drive.
   • Mail accounts can be continuously monitored for incoming email, processed on a schedule, or processed one time.
   • Incoming email addresses can be added to or removed from the database, recipient list, or exclusion list.  Duplicate sign-ups can be ignored.
   • Criteria can be set to ignore messages that do not contain a particular keyword in the header, subject, or body.
   • Data can be extracted from the incoming email and added to a new row in the database.  Or, an existing database row can be located and updated.
   • The Auto-Responder can automatically send a reply to all incoming messages that meet the criteria.  The auto-response can be personalized with database data, or even with information extracted from the incoming email.
   • Incoming emails can be Auto-Forwarded to a different mailbox.
   • A G-Merge script can be executed when an incoming message is processed.  This allows incoming email to be automatically processed differently based on the contents of its headers or body.  For example, an auto-response can be sent if the keyword "HELP" is found in the subject.  Or the message can be forwarded to a different address if it was sent from a particular address or domain.  The versatility of G-Merge makes the possibilities endless.
4. HTML messages with graphics: An email body comes in two flavors:  plain text and HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language).  HTML can be used to create very attractive messages, complete with formatted text, embedded graphics, and tables.  When using HTML, a text version should also be included.  If the end-user's email client cannot handle HTML, it will automatically display the text body instead.

5. List management: Gammadyne Mailer contains numerous tools to help manage the mailing list, whether it is located in a database, text file, or in Gammadyne Mailer's internal list.  This includes the following tools:
   
   
   • Add recipient
   • Change email address
   • Remove recipient
   • Edit database data
   • Remove duplicate addresses (a.k.a. deduplicating)
   • Remove illegal and/or blank addresses
   • Address verification
   • Convert addresses to upper/lower case
6. Multi-threading: Gammadyne Mailer has the ability to send up to 1024 emails simultaneously.  This feature is known as "multi-threading" or "multi-tasking", and can greatly increase the speed of the send operation.
   When sending an email, a lot of time is spent waiting for a response from the mail server.  Multi-threading allows Gammadyne Mailer to keep working on another email while waiting for the response.  The improvement in throughput is huge.  Multi-threading allows virtually all available upstream bandwidth to be utilized.
   
7. List-serving: The List-Server has numerous powerful options:
   Non-members can be prevented from posting messages.  Or, postings can be limited to only moderators.
   
   • Posted messages can have attachments stripped before forwarding.
   • Posts can be censored for profanity and racial insults.
   • Posts that are excessively large can be discarded (without being downloaded).
   • The "To:" header can be changed to each member's email address.  This is useful because some email clients will filter out all email that is not addressed to the recipient (as a form of spam prevention).
   • The "Reply-To:" header can be changed to the email address of the List-Server.  This way, replies will go to the group, not the individual who posted the original email.
   • The mailing list can be located in a database or plain text file

8. Message preview:
   
   • The message body, headers, and list of attachments can be modified for any recipient.  However, this should only be done if there is no way to implement automatic personalization.
   • For testing, a message can be redirected to your own email address.
   • The raw MIME body for a particular email can be displayed.
   • Individual recipients can be excluded from the mailing (click on the recipient, then click the "Discard" button).
9. Personalized attachments: Supported features:
   
   • No limit on the number or size of attachments.
   • Attachments can be automatically compressed into a single zip file, conserving size and accelerating the mailout.
   • The list of attachments can be personalized for each recipient (see below).
   • The contents of attachments can be personalized for each recipient (see below).
10. Dynamic interfaces: Gammadyne Mailer allows you to build custom user interfaces that can be used to influence the entire mailing.  These custom windows can contain any arrangement of text, checkboxes, editboxes, and buttons.  The possible uses for this feature are limitless.  Remind the user what they need to do before the mailing is sent.  Allow the user to enter a piece of text that is added to every message.  Allow the user to specify a subset of the recipients that the mailing should go to, based on database data.  If you can think it up, Gammadyne Mailer can probably do it!
    
11. Command line control: Support for the command line allows the user to improve automation. For example:
    
    • Windows Task Scheduler can automatically launch a command line on a schedule.
    • By creating desktop shortcuts to command lines, routine tasks can be made as simple as a mouse click.  When adding or removing a recipient, the email address can be acquired from the clipboard, or specified on the command line.
    • Third party programs can launch a command line in order to control Gammadyne Mailer.
    • Batch files can launch Gammadyne Mailer for a series of different send and receive operations.
12. Direct delivery: Following is a step-by-step procedure that an email program uses to perform Direct Delivery.
    
    • First, the domain name is extracted from the email address.  This is the portion of the email address that follows the '@' sign.  For example, the domain name in foo@bar.com is bar.com.
    • A DNS query is used to find the mail server for the domain.  For example, the mail server for bar.com might be mail.bar.com.
    • A second DNS query is used to find the IP address of the mail server.  For example, the IP address for mail.bar.com might be 11.22.33.44.
    • Finally, the email program connects to that IP address on Port 25 and delivers the email.
13. Data extraction: The following guide explains how to configure a Gammadyne Mailer project to process data in an incoming email, and add that data to a new row of the database.
    
    • Go to the Database branch.  Specify the name of the ODBC Data Source, the Table Name, the Recipient Column, and the Identity Column.  To see more information about these fields, right click on the editbox and choose "Help".
    • Go to the Incoming/Source branch.  Check the "Process Remote Email" box.  Click the "Add" button at the bottom of the table.  Specify the details of the incoming email account.
    • Go to the Incoming/Processing branch.
    • Set the Processing Mode to "Add to database".  In this mode, when an email is received, a new row is added to the database.  The email address will be automatically added to the Recipient Column (specified on the Database branch).
    • Check the "Process From:" box.  The email address that is stored in the Recipient Column will be taken from the From: header of the incoming email.
