SciTech GLDirect 1.01 brings you a powerful utility that is useful for Windows 95/98 and allows OpenGL-based games and applications to access 3D hardware acceleration using the Microsoft Direct3D 6.x drivers. Many PC graphics cards only come with drivers for Microsoft Direct3D, Microsoft's 3D interface. OpenGL is a cross-platform, high-performance standard for 3D graphics applications. Since developing OpenGL drivers can be considerably more complex than developing Direct3D drivers, many graphics hardware vendors have not released quality OpenGL 1.2 drivers for their hardware in a timely manner.
