Percussion Font Set includes two fonts: Ghent Percussion and Ghent Mallets.
Now in widespread usage, these symbols were developed at the Ghent Conference on Music Notation. Ghent Percussion includes more than 50 instrument symbols, 25 mallet symbols, and 12 playing method symbols (center, rim, open/closed hi-hat, etc.)
Ghent Mallets provides special flexibility in indicating sticks and beaters in any combination. Mallets and beaters can be shown mallet-head up or handle-end up, and either boxed or plain. Up to seven different symbols can be combined in a single enclosure, so shortcut symbols for directions like "put down two yarn mallets and pick up one jazz stick head up and one jazz stick head down" can be shown with just a few symbols. In addition to standard mallets, characters are also provided for hand, fist, finger, finger nail, +, -, numbers, and other useful symbols.
