ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES EXPLAINED.

Alternative Energy Sources A few billion years ago, in a particular part of the universe, a spectacular event occurred which resulted in the birth of our solar system. A star in this huge universe died and entered supernova state. When the core of a star stops producing energy the gravitational pull collapses leading to increased temperature and density causing a massive explosion. This is called a supernova –an exploded star. The explosion is so powerful that it expels chunks of the star at the velocity ten times more than the speed of the light and the energy radiated will be enormous, equal to what our sun can provide over its life span! Bits and pieces of this supernova mixed up with blob of the hydrogen gas and cosmic dust spread across the universe. The mixture became hotter, became compact due to its gravity and settled down. A new star ‘Sun’ was born and from the same material all the planets of the solar system evolved. This is the story of formation of the planet Earth. You can get more scientific info from Big Bang theory. So Earth was formed about 4.5 billion years ago. It took millions of years just for the molten mass to cool down and took many more million years to become stable, favoring the conditions required for the life to flourish on it. The planet was transformed into a paradise with lush green trees, grass, shrubs, water and variety of life forms roaming freely and enjoying their stay, until one day a two legged creature with enormous brain power set its first step on this planet, soon everything started changing. This greedy creature started multiplying rapidly and using its superior intelligence became a dominant species destroying anything and everything in its path. After few hundred years, this beast wiped out all the other life forms and landed itself in a grave danger. Without food, water and a good climate these creatures started tearing and devouring its own kind. Nature showed mercy and the planet exploded killing the remaining. This is my imagination but can become hard reality. Humans have caused irreparable damage to the environment, animals and the balance in the eco system. Now we have to wake up- now or never. The situation is alarming and only cautiously taken steps to rectify further damage to the nature can save us from abrupt ending of the world. It is well said “Earth can satisfy all our needs but not greed”. In the past 200 years thousands of animals have become extinct and now thousands of animals are listed endangered. I am not going off the topic. Conservation of energy and conservation of nature are interrelated. The remains of animals and plants got buried under the sea bed for millions of years to be formed into fossil fuels which we use today. The rate at which we are using fossil fuels suggests that it would be over in next few decades. What will our future generation do if there is no source of energy? Automobiles, industries and nuclear reactors which use fuel give out toxic chemicals which put us in serious risk. Also deforestation, killing of animals has led to imbalance in eco system and resulted in global warming and melting up of the poles. Ozone layer is depleting, ultraviolet rays and poisonous gases can sneak through ozone shield. All these are mainly happening because of the human activities and the traditional energy sources we are using. In order to avoid further damage to the nature and life, we must focus our attention towards alternative energy sources.
