Calorie Counter - Program for a Small Planet 7.0 is a powerful and easy to use program which is developed to give you a professional way to list calories and other nutrients and analyze over 6000 foods from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture SR 14 Data Base. The data is the most current available and descriptions can be matched easily with what you find in grocery stores around the country. This allows you to get more precise results since a key step is to actually buy the food which conforms to your diet, weight loss, or nutrition plan.

Major Features:

1.  The data is from the latest food US Department of Agriculture data base SR21 released in September of 2008 and contains information on over 7400 foods.  The data is kept up to date for the latest food products an calorie information with old products removed.
   
2. The food and nutrition information on the left is meant to be an aid to shopping; the nutrients listed are all for 100g so you can properly compare each food to see which is healthiest for you to purchase.  This standard 100g quantity allows you to compare 'apples to apples' as they say in accounting (the data display was checked by a degreed accountant).
3. You can sort the data (click on column heading) by calories, protein, carbohydrate, etc to find the most nutritious food for your diet needs.
   
4. The Calorie Counter on the right was developed from the same data and gives you calories for different gram measures such as per cup or per teaspoon.  The data is displayed for a food group which enables you to compare like foods with each other.
   
5. You can search in a SEARCH page for a particular food. Enter the food you want to search all items for that food as listed in the SR21 data appear. Its best to enter one or two descriptive words such as 'broccoli' or 'salmon' or 'oat bran'.
