HuMo-gen (PHP) 3.2

HuMo-gen (PHP) 3.2 brings users a brilliant and open-source Gedcom-to-Website genealogy program which converts Gedcom files into PHP files and creates an instant, dynamic and searchable genealogy Web site. The program can be easily installed by anyone with a domain and a webhost with PHP/mySQL support. No knowledge of either PHP or mySQL is required.

HuMo-gen(PHP) may be installed on a local PC as well. The program features can be adjusted by alterations to the PHP files. The program's outlay is easily changed through the CSS files. An online manual is available on the website and included in the download. HuMo-gen(PHP) is GNU-GPL licensed.

1. Genealogical Features: One of the greatest features of HuMo-gen(PHP) is that it allows the end-user to dynamically create genealogical reports. This means your end-users can take any person from the entire database and create reports with this individual as the base person.  Now anyone in your database may be accessed!

3. Language Features: The end-users may choose between English (default), French, German or Dutch display
   • The administrator may choose between English (default), German or Dutch display.
   •  New end-user and administration languages can be easily added by the administrator. simply copy the English language file, translate the English terms into your language and save the file with the name of your language as indicated in the manual. Within less than half an hour's work  you can offer HuMo-gen(PHP) in your language!
4.  Administration Features: HuMo-gen(PHP) is compatible with the Gedcom files exported by all major genealogy programs (such as Brothers Keeper, Legacy Family Tree, PAF - Personal Ancestral File, Roots Magic and many more). If you use another program, don't worry - if it complies with the Gedcom standards, HuMo-gen(PHP) will most likely handle it. And in the rare case your program should not classify , all chances are that can be fixed too. HuMo-gen(PHP) is being constantly developed.
   • Your HuMo-gen(PHP) website is easily updated with new material you collected. All that is needed is to upload an updated Gedcom file, read it in - and your site will show the new data.
   •  New HuMo-gen(PHP) versions are published all the time. HuMo-gen(PHP) is easily upgraded. In just a few minutes you will be up and running.

Requirements:

• To publish your HuMo-gen(PHP) website on the internet you need to have a domain hosted by be a paid or free Webhost.
• Your account must have PHP and MySQL support. If you don't know what that means, ask your Webhost.
•  Installation on the server is simple and straight-forward as explained in the manual (see the button on the menu above).
• No knowledge of PHP or MySQL is required, but you must be able to create a new SQL database (your Webhost can help you with this if you are not familiar with this). Of course you must know how to upload files to your Webhost's server.
•  HuMo-gen(PHP) can also be installed on your PC (mainly used for testing purposes). The way to achieve this is by means of a small server+PHP+mySQL simulator as explained in the manual.
• It is advised to make such an installation, since that way you can test out new HuMo-gen versions or alterations you made before you actually put them on the web.
