ActiveEarth 3.0 offers an effective tool which functions as a world time clock with a gorgeous day/night merge of NASAs Visible Earth satellite images in flat maps or a globe, with a row of user-definable clocks along the bottom. These clocks are beautiful, scalable, ticking, analog or digital clocks that come in several styles with many custom settings. Each clock is set to a city of your choice. The program has accurate time zone data for more than 500, major world cities and you can add your own.

ActiveEarth provides up-to-date, global weather conditions and forecasts through AccuWeather®. Current conditions can be displayed on clock faces, city labels, and more, for an at-a-glance view of global weather. Further, any clock can be floated on the desktop, and some clocks even have photo slide show abilities, so you can have a single, desktop gadget that elegantly provides photos, time, and weather!

ActiveEarth is an indespensable time utility. A graphical time difference between two or more cities quickly answers the questions, "Is this a good time to call the other side of the planet?" or "Whats the best time to have a conference call with our international sales offices?" Along with the dynamic day/night view of the earth, ActiveEarth calculates astronomical data; sunrise, sunset, moon rise and set, moon phase, etc. All are beautifully, graphically displayed. You can even set the program to display data for a specific time.

You can track important future events with countdown clocks! ActiveEarth allows you to countdown to future astronomical events and to specify your own custom events. The program can play an alarm with sounds, MP3, or even video clips to help you remember and celebrate a birthday or anniversary.

Finally, ActiveEarth comes with a screen saver that ties into the main program. Your favorite clocks or countdown events can be displayed with your favorite map view while your PC is idle AND the dynamically changing ActiveEarth map can be set as your desktop background

1. Time zone features
   • Time zone offset information for every country and state in the world
   • Daylight saving time information for every country and state in the world
   • ActiveEarth can check for updated time zone information periodically so you always have the current time zone rules
2. Weather features
   
   • The new weather tab has current condition info and seven day forecasts for all the US and 40,000+ international locations supplied by AccuWeather®
     
   • Current conditions can be displayed on clock faces, city icons on the map, and as corner objects
   • When adding a non-US city to the map, if the weather location cannot be matched automatically, a dialog appears showing every forecast location for that country from which the user can pick the closest one.

   • Three different projections: Lat/lon, Robinson, and globe
   • Display city labels on the globe, including current weather condition icons
   • Globe smoothly animates between cities selected in the More Information tab

   • The ActiveEarth map (in any of the three projections) can be set as your desktop wallpaper and will update every four minutes as long as AE is running
   • You can hide the clock tray or the map to streamline ActiveEarth if desired
5. Map corner objects
   • Display different objects in the extreme corners of the map such as:
   • Clocks, countdown clocks, the moon, a globe, or blank
   • Current weather conditions for any city
   • Click and drag corner object globe to view it from any angle
   • Corner objects can be resized
6. Cities
   • Display cities on the map with a matching clock along the bottom of the program
   • Display optional, custom sub-labels with each city
   • The default city list is now searchable and is improved containing all country capitals, time zone centers, and many major cities.
   • Adding cities is vastly improved with easy searching. ActiveEarth uses the GeoNames.org service to provide access to millions of place names, providing latitude, longitude, and time zone automatically.
   • When manually entering a location's details, if you right click on the map, ActiveEarth will do a reverse lookup on the latitude and longitude to pre-fill the country and time zone info.
   • Different icons for map locations even including current weather condition icons
7. Tools
   • View the time difference between two cities graphically
   • View the time difference between a city and a group of cities all at once!
   • View astronomical information for a city such as sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, transits, day length, etc. on the More information tab
   • View anuual sun information for a city in an amazing graphical way
   • View current moon phase and dates for coming moon events
8. Time calculator
   • The application can be set to be aware of Northern or Southern Hemisphere settings so that the moon appears more naturally and the dates of the preset seasons are correct for the southern hemisphere
   • ActiveEarth can be set to start up with Windows which is useful if you rely on desktop clocks or the screen background
9. Clocks
   • Photo clocks now have an interface for selecting the background image from the local disk
   • Much more user control over styles and settings for both analog and digital clocks
   • Clock groups -- Allows user to have different groups of clocks so that the map and clock tray don’t get cluttered. For example, you could have a group of clocks for all yourcompany’s international sales offices, and another for far-flung family members.
   • Clocks can be sorted in a variety of ways including a new user-defined sort
   • All clocks now have drop shadows on the hands and most use new WPF (the latest Microsoft development technology) image processing features to improve the rendering appearance and performance
   • Countdown clocks can track the time remaining to important events
   • Countdown clocks can be used as alarm clocks and can play sound, MP3, or even a movie clip when the countdown event passes
10. ActiveEarth Clock Pack One
    • Twelve additional analog clock designs for ActiveEarth including:
    • The Earth Time Instrument -- a clock containing a top-down view of the globe for a unique and useful, global way to tell time
    • The Harrison H4 -- a live, ticking version of the watch that changed the history of navigation in the 1700's

11. ActiveEarth Clock Pack Two
