Adventurers out to conquer the largest and most deadly desert in the world are fooled again and again by optical illusions, bringing them far off course in their search for fresh water.

However, not all of the oases are mirages. In a few places in the desert, there are indeed small areas of lush vegetation that offer people and animals an idyllic natural environment to regain their strength. See for yourself...

On the banks of a small lake, some Bedouins have set up their tents. The men explore their surroundings on camel, while the Bedouin women transport water using traditional earthenware pitchers. From a distance, you can hear the song of the muezzin, calling the people to prayer.
