TextPt is a tool for acrobatics on .txt files and texts. TextPt is a tool for acrobatics on .txt files and texts. It will leed you far beyond MsWords "Find" and "Replace".
Main features:
Find&Replace
- Find word patterns in text files (this is by no means merely a word search!*)
- Replace found words with new ones
Insert&Split
- Split text in many pieces of fixed length. For example, break a long string into substrings separated by "return"
DNA tool
- Design PCR primers and T7 transcription constructs
Advanced tools
- Search for word overrepresentation (e.g. find word patterns in DNA, that have a tendency to be present more often that average words, but are not picked up by sequence alignments such as ClustalW).
- Find RNA stem-loops, long-range bais pairings etc.
- Sort data. For example, remove all data that are smaller than "2" from data set: 1, 2, -3.3, 554, 2,1 => 2, 3, 554, 2

- Analyze and plot data from Advanced tools
Read from file
- For very large files - such as entire genomes of DNA, dont paste the text to the
- IN window, but instead, read file to/from memory (select this option in "settings")
