Applibase DataCaster 1.0

Applibase DataCaster is a useful Java-based distributed relational database, created to integrate and publish data between applications on the web. The DataCaster distributed database makes remote data readily accessible in the local database, and makes it possible to view, cache, and query data directly from other applications on the web. Using a loose-coupled model for distributed relational data, DataCaster allows diverse web sites to provide applications with shared data across multiple sites. Web sites can share data with anonymous or authenticated access as required, authorize specific subsets of data, and control usage of the data.
Applibase DataCaster provides new distributed data features in a standards-based relational database, with SQL and JDBC support. In addition, DataCaster also provides applications a direct Java API into the internal tables, indexes, etc. in the database. This gives applications more control of data processing when performance or other considerations require more direct control than offered by SQL and JDBC.
DataCaster simplifies the interaction between distributed applications and relational data, and is targeted at data-driven applications on the web. Web applications can provide users the benefits of integration with other applications using the same interface used for local data. Using materialized views, applications can provide the benefits of integrated applications with responsive user performance. This enables applications across diverse smaller web sites to get some of the benefits of a larger integrated web site with an integrated database.
