PlatinumFTP 2007 2.1.0 description
PlatinumFTP 2007 was designed to be an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server that works with FTP, SFTP (SSH) and SSL protocols.
With its advanced features, it enables you to manage files over your network or Internet with almost any FTP client.
You can write scripts with the built in script/macro editor which uses the basic language and has access to zip and ftp objects like a modern day programming language.
It has features like a Rules engine which can use regular expressions and can fire on different events, custom SITE commands, Virtual folders and many more. The help document is available online which lists all of the features available and you can click here to view.
The FTP engine installs as a service.
Main features:
- FREE for personal use, cheap to license of you are a business.
- RFC959 Compliant. The Server will work with any client written to RFC959 standard.
- Supports standard FTP, SSL and SFTP encryption.
- Built in Certificate manager to create test certificates or certificate requests.
- Rules - Define rules for FTP actions which can then run a script/program or send email with custom variables. Define the object as a Regular Expression to make rules more flexible.
- Custom Commands - define custom actions and assign access to users so that they can run defined actions remotely.
- Very fast. The core of the server engine is written in C++ for speed.
- XP type console using the new Microsoft 2007 ribbon design.
- Runs as a Service on Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista.
- Server Engine binds to one or all IP addresses.
- Supports PASV and non-PASV connections. Some Fire walls will only allow PASV connections for clients while Windows DOS based clients use the Non-PASV mode. You can define a custom PASV address for each user if your server runs on an internal network so that the user sees you internet address.
- User-friendly Interface. Simple design, easy to configure.
- Logs can be generated for User, Group and Server activity.
- Resume failed transfers. If a connection with the client fails during a transfer, the user can restart the transfer from the failed point if their client supports this feature.
- Set time-out for idle user connections. You can configure the server so that an idle user can be disconnected after a set period of time. You can also set this so that users will never time-out.
- Limit number of connections. If you run the server on a low specification system, you may wish to limit the number of concurrent connections.
- Define command or Script access by user or group. Each User or Group depending on their security settings, can have access to the Windows "Shell" process and any scripts created with the built in Script editor.
- Limit User bandwidth usage. You can define some users to have more network bandwidth than others.
- Users belong to groups. Security can apply to individual users or users can use security of their group. This is a good way to administer security. You could define an Administration group with all access to commands/scripts and for each Administrator user allocated to this group, they could adopt the group policy instead of having to define security settings for every user.
- User accounts can be enabled or disabled.
- Users can change their passwords remotely.
- Users can have their own virtual folders, which link them to other directories on your server.
- Limit user/group access to FTP actions like GET, PUT, DEL.
- Write your own scripts in basic using the built in script Editor. The editor color codes the source and you can control built in Zip and Ftp client objects. This feature was added so that the server could become a data hub. An automated ftp task could run from any system and connect to this server. The client could send a file and then execute a script through the server, which could process the file and send it off to other systems or Zip the results.
- Users/Groups can execute scripts. Through the Console, you can define which scripts the user or group can access.
- Users/Groups can access the shell process. Through the Console, you can decide if users or groups can have access to the Shell process to enable them to execute commands or applications within the operating system.
- ZIP. A user can turn the Zip function on and this makes the server Zip up the file before its sent to the user.
- ZIP files on server. User can zip a file when connected to the server without downloading.
- Define root directory for each user or group.
- Allow Anonymous connections. The Anonymous user account is a special account which does not require a valid password. This is disabled by default.
- View Logs for Server, Group and User.
- Define a greeting message send the user before they log-on.
- View transfer stats by 24 hour period/day/week.
- Block one or more IP addresses.
