Syncura Document Sharing Service 1.5 description
Syncura Document Sharing Service helps you share and synchronize files and documents directly over the Internet with colleagues, friends, and family.
Synchronize files and folders with invited users separated by firewalls. Syncura automatically detects if a direct connection to another user is not available and will relay encrypted data through our collaboration servers.
Main features:
- File synchronization
Share and synchronize files and documents directly over the Internet with colleagues, friends, and family. Edit and save shared files locally as if they are on a shared network server.
- Proxy Sync
Synchronize files and folders with invited users separated by firewalls. Syncura automatically detects if a direct connection to another user is not available and will relay encrypted data through our collaboration servers.
- Files are not stored on a server
There are many hosted file storage solutions available, but storage and bandwidth comes at a price. You have to pay for extra storage and bandwidth, and trust that your files are safe on someone elses server. Because of the way Syncura works, it has inherent privacy, security, and data redundancy built in.
- Only send the part of the file that changes
Experience minimal download times from other users sharing the same folder. Syncura only sends the portion of the file that changed. On average, data transfer is reduced by 80%!
- 256-Bit AES encryption
All data transfer uses 256-bit AES encryption, including 1024-bit RSA Public key encryption for communication with the server or with other invited users.
- Windows Explorer integration
Shared folders are ordinary, normal folders that you specify and can be located anywhere on a local drive. Work with files and folders on a local drive as if it was a network server.
Shared files have overlay icons in the bottom right corner of the file icon that displays if the file is the latest version, is checked out for exclusive editing, is checked out for exclusive editing by a teammate, or is currently being downloaded.
- Optionally lock a file for exclusive editing
If you will be editing a document for a lengthy period of time, or know that you need to edit while you will be offline and dont want anyone else to change it, you can check it out for exclusive editing. No one else will be allowed to make a change to the document while you have it checked out.
This command is optional for editing files. If you need to make a few quick changes to a document you can simply open the document, edit it, and save it.
- When time is of the essence
Dont wait for a document to be downloaded from a server just to view or edit it. Files are stored locally and are always kept in sync while you are online.
- Offline editing
Edit your documents with confidence even if you are not online. The next time you connect to the Internet, Syncura will check to see if any other users have changed it while you were offline, and if not, the file will be synchronized with your team. If another user has changed the file, you will be notified of the conflict, your file will be renamed to include "Users copy" on the end of the filename, and the latest version of the file will be downloaded.
- Collision detection
If two users sharing the same file edit and save it at almost the exact same time, the first user that informs the Collaboration Relay Server of the change will be assumed to have the master version of the file. The user that lost the race will be notified of the conflict, the file will be renamed to include "Users copy" on the end of the filename, and the latest version of the file will be downloaded to their computer.
- Speedy delivery
Syncura has developed an efficient and scalable document distribution algorithm called Random Peer Selection. Each Syncura client randomly chooses an online peer and asks if they have the latest version of a file. Since random peers are being chosen, eventually one will be a winning choice, and it will get the file. The odds for remaining peers of finding a winner will double, because now there are two peers with the latest file. Eventually, all peers will connect to a peer that hosts the latest version of the file and the synchronization will be complete.
