Emsa Bandwidth Monitor 1.0 Build 45 brings users the convenience of using an efficient program that allows monitoring your current internet/network speed, by offering statistics of total traffic, average download/upload speed, etc. It is very simple to use; runs as system tray icon and shows a small, transparent-able, repositionable window that you can place on your desktop. It also allow viewing extended Net adapter interface settings, like MAC address, speed, etc. It allows viewing traffic data per interface or as a whole. It can be set to autorun at system startup. This program has been designed with simplicity in mind, but usefulness for the user.
Important note:
- Please note that this program does NOT measure the total bandwidth capabilities provided to you by the ISP (internet service provider), and it should never be used for such professional grade network speed measurement and comparison purposes. You are not allowed to use the speed values reported by this program as a professional reference measurement, in order to to confront with your ISP; it is beyond the scope of this program to be used in such manner. This program is a rather simple freeware tool, intended for personal usage and not as 100% accurate measurement, offering approximate, statistical values of the current download/upload speeds, as provided to it by the operating system itself. Measured speeds can be significantly different when compared with total bandwidth offered by your ISP, as they are usually affected by a lot of other factors, including computer configuration, hardware and software, network hardware and configuration, etc. Additionally, currently running programs on your computer or online speed test tools may also not be able to consume all bandwith available at your disposal.
- It is also very important to understand the metrics of this program. Values reported are expressed in Bytes (octets) per second, and not in Bits per second which is the standard metric used by most ISP's when describing internet/network bandwidth capabilities, and therefore figures can be much smaller, roughly around 10 times smaller than the corresponding speed when expressed in Bits per second (Bps). This is due to the fact that one byte equals 8 bits, and there is an additional amount of bits spent by network protocols themselves - so not all bits are actually usable by the applications running on your computer. Average and max speeds are being computed based on samples taken over a window of 20 seconds - the last 20 seconds of program run.
Installation:
- No Installation is required. Simply unzip the files, and run the main executable. Please read the included text files before actually running the executable.
- To configure the program to autorun at startup, double click(run) the InstallAutorun.bat file. To remove autorun, double-click the UninstallAutorun.bat file.
