Eve 1.3.1

The Eve project stemmed from a general dislike of current network intelligence tools. The developers felt that while many aspects of network management and planning have grown and improved over the years, the ability to really get a feel for normal network traffic did not exist. Eve allows network admins to visually learn what to expect on their network, and to spot what is abnormal. The human mind is finely tuned to detecting patterns from visual data, Eve plays on that fact - allowing you to intuative get to grips with networking. An example of Eve in action comes from the story of the lead development Mark working on an early version of the Eve prototype and noticing a stray connection to a german server which was later tracked to a piece of spyware not detected by his antivirus/antispyware solution.
