MonitorCam 2.0.1 is a helpful detection program which can be utilized to easily build up an inexpensive security system at home. You can start monitoring your home, work area or computer by simply connecting a web camera to your computer and running the program. Additionally, it can catch any thief trying to run away with your computer or simply to monitor when activity occurs in a part of your home. It can generate alarm sounds, save captured motion images to disk as image files or video files, send email alerts with image attachments, and upload images and videos to an FTP site.

MonitorCam uses a web camera connected to the USB port of your computer and performs motion detection on the captured video stream. You can configure MonitorCam to set its detection sensitivity level, to tell it what amount of motion should be considered to be an intrusion event and to generate alarms. MonitorCam is able to generate audible alarm sounds when significant motion is detected, to capture images on disc, and to send e-mail alerts with image attachments. In this way, even if in the worst case your computer gets stolen, you will have captured the entire event and have it sent to your email account.

While motion is being detected, MonitorCam can save the video frames to disc if Save images when motion is detected is checked. MonitorCam can send email alerts with image attachments when motion is detected. MonitorCam supports two different mechanisms for sending emails. Users can select which one to use by either choosing Use MAPI or Use SMTP.

MonitorCam can be configured to play alarm sounds that may hopefully scare away any intruders trying to steal your computer.
