Intel Parallel Studio beta

Intel Parallel Studio beta provides various tools for every phase in the development cycle of parallel applications on multi-core systems such as analysis and design, coding and debugging, verification and tuning. All Parallel Studio functionality is integrated into the Microsoft Visual Studio* development environment to create optimized, innovative parallel applications for Windows and compete in a multicore industry:

• Intel® Parallel Advisor Lite. A utility to help identify candidate functions for parallelizing and advise on protecting or sharing data.
• Intel® Parallel Composer Intel® C++ compiler, Intel® Threading Building Blocks, Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives, and Intel® Parallel Debugger Extension.
• Intel® Parallel Inspector. A multithreading tool to detect challenging threading and memory errors.
• Intel® Parallel Amplifier. A performance analysis and tuning tool for parallel applications.

Intel brings simplified, end-to-end parallelism to Microsoft Visual Studio* C/C++ developers with Intel Parallel Studio. Leveraging more than 25 years of parallel software and high-performance expertise, Intel provides advanced tools to optimize client applications.

Requirments:

1. A PC based on an IA-32 or Intel® 64 architecture processor supporting the Intel® Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (Intel® SSE2) instructions (Intel® Pentium 4 processor or later, or compatible non-Intel processor)
   • Incompatible or proprietary instructions in non-Intel processors may cause the analysis capabilities of this product tfunction incorrectly. Any attempt tanalyze code not supported by Intel® processors may lead tfailures in this product.
   • For the best experience, a multi-core or multi-processor system is recommended
2. 2GB RAM
3. 4GB free disk space for all product features and architectures
4. Microsoft Windows XP*, Microsoft Windows Vista*, Microsoft Windows Server 2003* or Microsoft Windows Server 2008*, 32-bit or “x64” editions - embedded editions not supported
5. When installed on Microsoft Windows Server 2008:
   • Microsoft Visual Studi2008* Standard Edition (or higher edition) SP1 with C++ and “x64 Compiler and Tools” components installed
     
6. When installed on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2003, one of:
   • Microsoft Visual Studi2008* Standard Edition (or higher edition) with C++ and “x64 Compiler and Tools” components installed
   • Microsoft Visual Studi2005* Standard Edition (or higher edition) with C++ and “x64 Compiler and Tools” components installed
     
7. Application coding requirements:
   • Programming Language: C or C++ (native, not managed code)
   • Threading methodologies supported by the analysis tools:
   • • OpenMP*
     • Intel’s C/C++ Parallel Language Extensions
     • Intel® Threading Building Blocks
     • Win32* Threads
8. Tread the on-disk documentation, Adobe Reader* 7.0 or later
9. Notes:
   • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 Standard Edition installs the “x64 Compiler and Tools” component by default – the Professional and higher editions require a “Custom” install to select this.
   • The default for Intel® Parallel Composer is to build IA-32 architecture applications that require a processor supporting the Intel® SSE2 instructions. A compiler option is available to generate code that will run on any IA-32 architecture processor.
   • Applications built with Intel® Parallel Composer can be run on the same Windows versions as specified above for development. Applications may also run on non-embedded 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows earlier than Windows XP, though Intel does not test these for compatibility. Your application may depend on a Win32 API routine not present in older versions of Windows. You are responsible for testing application compatibility. You may need to copy certain run-time DLLs onto the target system to run your application.
   • Intel® Parallel Amplifier and Intel® Parallel Inspector support analysis of applications built with Intel® Parallel Composer, Intel® C++ Compiler Professional Edition version 10.0 or higher, and/or Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 or 2008. Applications that use OpenMP and are built with the Microsoft compiler must link to the OpenMP “compatibility library” as supplied by an Intel compiler.
