RJ TextEd 5.60

RJ TextEd 5.60 is such a professionally designed Unicode text editor with syntax highlighting, code folding, full FTP client, HTML preview, spell checking, and email support. The editor can use any language with the use of a language file.

A syntax definition file editor is included. Adds HTML preview tab using Mozilla Active X (Firefox) component, both IE and Firefox preview tabs have full browser capabilities, and add or edit folder favorites in explorer tabs. Adds advanced column mode, new extended search, new search features Internal browsers (IE and Firefox) Reformatting of paragraphs and selected text, new folding options, new print options, and uses TopStyle Lite.

1. Edit plain text
   • The editor handles any type of file. ANSI, ASCII, UTF-8, Unicode and binary files. Text documents can be converted between different character sets.
   • Internally text is handled as Unicode. All functions of the editor support Unicode.
   • Uses tabs to easily switch between documents.
   • Support code folding and regions (.NET languages).

4. Open, save or print a document
   • The editor can open and save text as ANSI, UTF-8 or Unicode. It can do so with or without a BOM (Unicode file signature).
   • Handles unicode file paths and file names. Unicode is supported with all file operations including command line arguments, drag n' drop, MRU, Searching, file commander...
   • The editor can also open and save binary files. It is not only a text editor, it is also a binary (hex) editor.
   • Text or source code can be saved as html documents. The source is converted to html and properly highlighted before saving.
   • Text can be encrypted using strong encryption (Twofish). When you open or save the file a password has to be entered.
   • Before printing you can preview the printout.
   • The print dialog gives you several options. E.g. syntax coloring, word wrap...
5. Connect to the outside world
   • The editor has FTP capabilities. You can edit a single document or you can manage your home site using the file commander.
   • Synchronize a local folder with a remote folder on your FTP site.
   • E-mail your document as plain text.
   • E-mail your documents as attachments.
6. Convert your document
   • All converted documents are opened in its own tab.
   • Convert from text to html or html to text. With or without syntax coloring.
   • Convert document between different character sets. E.g. you are using an English Windows XP and want to open and edit a Russian text saved on a Russian Windows. If the text is saved as ANSI - all you see is some garbled text. Simply convert the document to character set "Cyrillic" and the text is displayed using Russian characters. You can use this feature to convert between a number of different character sets like DOS and MAC.
7. Tools
   • Syntax editor. Create syntax definition files using a graphic tool. Makes some things like sorting keywords very simple.
   • Character viewer. View characters available in different fonts using Unicode or code pages. Lets you copy characters or texts to the clipboard.

• • The "Home" page has been completely rewritten. It doesn't use a web browser component anymore. From the home page you can
  • Create new file(s): Select one or several files to create. Double click to create the files.
  • Open recent project: Double click to open the listed project.
  • Open recent file(s): Select one or several files. Double click (left mouse button) to open the files.
  • Open project/files: You can also open a project or files using a file open dialog. Click on one of the "Open..." buttons.
  • Tutorials, help topics and support: There are three menus at the top you can use to browse tutorials, open some help topics or get support.
• Syntax files (Highlighters) and syntax editor
• • Added some new options to be used with syntax files.
  • AutoCompleteCharA, AutoCompleteCharB: The auto completion character is usually a period (.). Some syntax files use a space to trigger auto completion after the "new" keyword.
  • HintCharStart, HintCharEnd: Hints can be used with functions to display parameters. Usually parentheses "()" are used, but can be anything you want. If nothing is entered "()" are assumed.
  • AllowEscapeOutsideString: In most programming languages a string escape is only used inside a string. But in some languages it is valid to escape a beginning of a string (outside a string). This option is used with the Perl syntax.
• Column mode: Made some changes to how paste works in column mode. Also greatly improved editing speed.
• View spaces and tabs: I've compressed the previously two options into one option. Also made it possible to display toolbar buttons for "View spaces and tabs" and "View line breaks".
• Highlight: Made several changes to the highlight function in the search menu.

  • Highlight Word(s): Highlight selected word(s), or the word under the text cursor, and all other instances of the same words in the document. You can highlight as many words as you want.
  • Highlight Selection: Highlight selected text and all other instances of the same text in the document. You can highlight as many selections as you want. The selection can be anything and does not have to be whole words. The highlighting is not case sensitive. E.g. if "dummy" is selected and highlighted, "Dummy" will be highlighted as well.
  • Unhighlight Word(s): Remove the word highlighting. If the text cursor is at a highlighted word, only this word highlighting is canceled. Otherwise all word highlighting is canceled.
  • Unhighlight Selection
  • Remove the selection highlighting. If the text cursor is at a highlighted text, only this text highlighting is canceled. Otherwise all selection highlighting is canceled.
  • Unhighlight Search: You can highlight found items using "Find All" in the search dialog, or "Find" in the extended search dialog. This menu item can be used to cancel the highlighting.
• Code folding: Fixed several issues and added a "Code folding" page in options.
• Sidebar: The side bar can now be aligned to the left or right. You can toggle the position in the view menu.
