Text Log Monitor (TLM) provides Systems Administrators the ability to monitor and filter local or remote text log files as well as alert all in real-time.
Text Log Monitor will also enable users to easily view and filter extremely large text files from within a friendly Windows GUI.
In Text Log Monitor 2008 filters can be applied in much the same way tools like Cygwins GREP utility provides. Both simple filters and complex Regular Expression filters are supported. Filtered results can be viewed or alerts can be configured to fire automatically when new messages are appended to log files.
In Text Log Monitor 2008 files are monitored using operating system calls enabling the software to immediately notify Systems Administrators when specific messages are appended or when file contents change.
Text Log Monitor installs a Windows Service that enables automatic file monitoring and alerting. The Windows Service does not require system administrators to be logged into the system.

Enhancements:
- Added significant optimizations to file monitor read code
- When reading an entry delimited file the read performance was slow. The read algorithm has been optimized. The total time to read a delimited file now takes as little as 7% the time it took in previous builds.
- In previous builds email output supported attaching images. When sending a large email the process of parsing the email for attachments takes significant memory and CPU load. To increase performance, email HTML templates can no longer reference images. If you have created your own templates with background images please let us know and we will look into providing an option to parse the template for image references.
- When specifying a monitor exclusion period users can now choose between shutting down the monitor or continuing to monitor the file but suppressing actions.
- Users can create a new action based on a current action. From the Actions Manager select the action to base the new action on and then click Copy.
- The action configuration dialogs have been moved from the application library to our Corner Bowl Software common library enabling code reuse between all our applications. Please note there are several minor user interface differences.
- We have boosted the syslog forward action performance. Previously the UDP socket was recreated for every entry forwarded. The UDP socket is now cached.
- In previous builds if a monitor was removed while running, the file was updated immediate after deleting the monitor, users may have seen an error message within the service log that stated a configuration failed to load. This bug has been fixed
