WMV/WMA IFilter lets you index and search WMV and WMA documents WMV/WMA IFilter lets you index and search Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video documents.
It extends Microsoft Indexing Service to extract metadata from Windows Media files. Windows Media Technologies is the name for the products, product components and services from Microsoft that give you the ability to create, deliver, and play streaming files in the Advanced Systems Format (ASF). ASF is an extensible file format designed to store synchronized multimedia data. Audio and/or Video content compressed with a wide variety of codecs can be stored in an ASF file and played back with the Windows Media Player, streamed with Windows Media Services or optionally packaged with Windows Media Rights Manager.
WMV/WMA IFilter is available in Server and Workstation Editions.
WMV/WMA IFilter Server Edition is a server-side solution designed for businesses of all sizes. It integrates with Internet Information Server, SharePoint Portal Server, WSS, Site Server, Exchange, SQL Server and all other products based on Microsoft Search technology. WMV/WMA IFilter Server Edition also includes all the functionality of the Workstation Edition.
WMV/WMA IFilter Workstation Edition makes it possible for end users to search Windows Media Video and Audio files on their desktops. It can be installed on Windows desktop operating systems and seamlessly integrates with MSN Desktop Search, Indexing Service and Windows File Search.
System requirements:
- WMV/WMA IFilter requires Microsoft Windows Media Format components distributed with Windows Media Player (version 9.0 or later) or with Windows Media Format runtime package (WMFdist.exe).
