7-max speeds up the execution of applications up to 10-20%. Memory manager in Windows system is not too effective. 7-max contains its own memory manager. You can run any application, so that application will use effective memory manager. 7-max can increase the performance of applications that use big amount of memory. In tests, it gives about 10% speed improvements on modern file compression programs like 7-Zip and WinRAR.

How does 7-max work?
Windows uses small (4 KB) RAM pages by default. If you run any application with 7-max, that application will use large (2/4 MB) RAM pages. Large RAM pages provide increasing of speed.

7-max can speed up applications that use big amount of memory. In our tests, 7-max gives 10%-20% speed improvements on modern file compression programs like 7-Zip (www.7-zip.org). The biggest improvement can be obtained in CPUs with small L2 Cache: Celeron, Sempron.

All modern CPUs (Core, Core 2, Pentium 3/4/M/D, Celeron, Athlon XP/64/FX, Turion, Sempron, Duron ...) support small (4 Kbytes) and large (2/4 Mbytes) RAM pages. But Windows by default uses only small pages. Its much simpler for CPU to handle large (2/4 MB) pages than big number of small (4 KB) pages. So programs that use large pages work faster than programs using small pages. If you run some application with 7-max, 7-max modifies memory allocation calls to allow application to use large pages, and its possible that application will work faster.
