GedFiliations 1.1

GedFiliations is a simple software which builds a genealogy site from a GEDCOM file.
If you use genealogy software to keep a database of your ancestors, it most probably has an export utility that saves your database in the GEDCOM format.
This format allows you to share your data among genealogists as it is a simple text file and can be imported in any serious genealogy software and merged with your own database.
GedFiliations takes advantage of this format and helps you recreate your database on the web with just a few clicks.
If you already have a web site, all you do is provide a link to the generated sites main page, upload it using GedFiliations publishing feature and you are done.
If you dont have a published web site, you can still upload it to your web space and provide a link to it. Most internet providers allow some space on their servers to let you publish a web site. You need to get the FTP address, user name and password from your ISP and enter these values into GedFiliations to publish your newly created site.

- Alphabetical lists of all individuals in your database with links to family pages and ascendance pages.

- Ascendance and notes pages can be omitted.
- Flexible date inclusions/exclusions to protect privacy of living individuals.
- Capability to publish in two languages (English, French). There is no need to type all the labels yourself.
- Software can also be run in either English or French.

- Written in Java so it can run on multiple platforms (Although it has only been tested in Windows and Linux, the trial version lets you try it on other platforms like Mac).
- Upload (FTP) to any server from within GedFiliations.
- Capability to start your default internet browser from within GedFiliations to view your sites locally.
- Does not generate thousands of unmanageable files. Some ISPs dont let you upload this many files even if their size amount to less than your quota. Groups of 40 families are put on one HTML page. Same with ascendance pages that use 50 trees per page. You are then able to link from one group to another using HTML anchors minimizing the need to scroll up and down the pages.
