Horizon Text & HTML Project Workshop 1.44 description

Horizon Text & HTML Project Workshop 1.44 offers powerful tools tools you need to manage HTML or any type of text projects. It features a Multiple Document Interface (MDI), in which you can organize your documents into projects, making it easy to make changes, add new documents, etc.

It includes a full featured word processor that supports plain text and Rich Text (.rtf) formats, HTML tag Auto-Complete, functions to re-wrap & re-format text, or to quickly see how changes you've made will appear in your browser or other external application. This tool also consists of an  Often Used Text Blocks window from which you can copy often used blocks of text into your own documents, a Quote Manager which allows you to find specific or random lines of text in a quotes or tagline file for easy pasting into your documents, a Personal Notes pad where you can jot down ideas as you work, a full featured Explorer-like Disk Tree View, HTML/CSS Quick Reference, and many other features. (Win32)

Major Features:

  1. Project list:
    • You can create  Project (.prj) files in which to organize your document files. This window shows the list of documents for the currently opened project.  To open an existing document, just double click it.  To open a new document, double click Open new document.  If the document is already open, the window for that document will be restored if necessary, and brought to the front. To select multiple documents, hold down the Shift or Ctrl keys as you click them.
    • You can also drag and drop documents from the list to a blank area on the screen, to open them.If you want to change the font size in this and the Tree View window, click your left mouse button in the light gray area between them, and the font size will cycle between about 8 & 14 pts.  If you have trouble seeing the +/- buttons on the right side of the Project List toolbar, you can right click in that area to display a larger pair of symbols.
    • To resize the Project List and Tree view window, position your mouse in the light gray area between them, press the left mouse button, drag left or right, and then release the button.  To drag it to the right (enlarge it), there must be some empty (darker colored) space in the main document area to drag it to, so you should minimize or cascade any open documents first.
    • You can create as many Project files as you like, and you can include a document in more than one project.  Project files are plain text files which can also be edited if needed.
    • Use the menu, toolbar, or right click mouse menu, to manage this window.
    • You can also drag and drop items between the List & Treeview windows, the document area, Windows Explorer, and other OLE programs.

  2. Document window(s):
    • You can edit any plain text or Rich Text Format (.rtf) files in Horizon Text & HTML Workshop, and you can have as many open at a time, as you wish.  You can open documents associated with the current project, a different project, or associated with no project at all.
    • You can open documents from the List & Treeview windows, and by dragging and dropping from Explorer & other OLE programs.
    • There is no limit, aside from your available memory, to the size or number of documents you can open and edit.  Contrast this with Windows Notepad and Wordpad which are both limited in the size of files they can be used with.  Just another good reason to do all your editing in Horizon Text & HTML Workshop, instead!  ;)
    • After opening a document, the file name and current line # are displayed in the window's caption.  You can Goto or jump to a different line by using the Find command on the Edit menu, which is great for setting bookmarks (Each found line is stored for easy recall in the dialog's combo box), and debugging javascripts.
    • You can convert MS Word .doc files to .rtf files, so you can open and edit them in Horizon Text & HTML Workshop.
    • You can add to or remove documents from the current project, and use the editing tools, from the menus, toolbars, and right click mouse menus.

  3. Personal notes/To do list window:
    • The Notes window is a handy place to jot down notes or a 'to do list' as you work.
    • When this window has the focus, you can press Ctrl-S or the 'Save Notes' menu option, to save it to disk.
    • You can specify in the Defaults dialog, that a specific notes file be opened automatically each time you run Horizon Text & HTML Workshop.

  4. Tree view window:
    • Gearheads can optionally use this window to open and manage folders and files.
    • Use the checkboxes to select multiple items.  If you checkmark a folder, all the files within it will automatically be checkmarked too.  To clear the checkmarks, uncheckmark the folder, then click 'Refresh'.
    • If you want to change the font size in this and the Project List window, click your left mouse button in the light gray area between them, and the font size will cycle between about 8 & 14 pts.
    • Use the menu, toolbar, or right click mouse menu, to manage this window.
    • You can also drag and drop items between the List & Treeview windows, the document area, Windows Explorer, and other OLE programs.
  5. Often used text blocks window (shown minimized):
    • Shown minimized here, is the Often Used Text Blocks window, which is a handy place to store often used blocks of text which you can copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) into your own documents.
    • You can specify in the Defaults dialog, that a specific text blocks file be opened automatically each time you run Horizon Text & HTML Workshop.
    • For even more flexibility, you can also create document templates to simplify new document creation.
  6. Quotes window:
    • You can optionally open a handy quotes or tagline file, from which you can select specific or random lines of text to paste into your documents.
    • You can specify, in the Defaults dialog, that a specific quotes file be opened automatically each time you run Horizon Text & HTML Workshop.Use the menu, toolbar, or right click mouse menu, to manage this window.

Enhancements:

  • HTML Auto-Complete,
  • OLE drag/drop/insert object,
  • document templates,
  • Internet options,
  • new DDE logic, and more.
