Best of all, you do not need any special ActiveX controls or run-time environments to run your Visual Basic programs in the background even if no user is logged on to Windows NT Workstation or Server. Service Maker allows you to focus on meeting business requirements while it takes care of the technicalities of an NT service. When you use Service Maker to launch your applications/ActiveX server as NT services, your applications will survive user logons and log offs. You can use Service Maker to eliminate time consuming initialization and start-up of ActiveX (formerly OLE Automation) servers or to control the security context in which you would like your applications to run.
