Phone Fun is a free software that was designed to find out if your phone number spells out a word. This is often used by businesses to advertise the phone numbers that are easy to remember. 1800-JOIN-IN (Verizon), 1800-CALL-ATT (ATT Collect), and 1800-PIN-DROP (Sprint) are some of the examples of the companies that use such technique.
Sure
it is easy to spell out your business name and see if there is a phone number available for that name. But what about existing phone numbers? It would take an enormous amounts of time to go through and search for all possible combinations of letters that correspond to the spelling of a phone number. This program does this in under a second. Punch in your last four digits, or the whole seven, press a button, and voila: all the possible combinations appear in front of your very own eyes!
The output of the program is a text file which opens up automatically and includes all the possible words which can be spelled out by your phone number. As of now, you must go through the list and pick the combinations you wish to use. Future version will include a spell check and weed out bogus words. The bitmap and GIF graphics files FIR generates are 8-bit graphics which look like a stereo picture; they are no difference from any other bitmap and GIF files which you may open them with graphics software to view.
