The HABPad application was designed to be a file viewer and editor similar to the Notepad utility but with a number of enhanced features including:
- Several files may be opened at the same time in different windows.
- Non-text files (and text files) may be opened and viewed (but not modified) in Hex-view
- HABPad does not "choke" on large files or switch to WordPad as do Windows 9X versions of Notepad. Instead it loads as much of the file as it can (up to a maximum of 2 Gb).
- HABPad has a Replace function as well as an enhanced Search function.
Note: HABPad is HABEdit with the Hex-view but not the Hex-edit function. It is intended for use in situations where the ability to edit any file may be too much of a temptation for inexperienced or irresponsible users.
Although you can view files in HABPads Hex view, you cannot modify them. If you do need Hex-editing, you should get HABEdit instead.
