Tcl/Tk 8.6
Tcl/Tk offers you a very effective misc programming tool which is designed to be easy to embed into other applications. more>>
Tcl/Tk 8.6 offers you a very effective misc programming tool which is designed to be easy to embed into other applications. As a language, it is much like UNIX shell languages. There is very little syntax and it is easy to learn. It is used to glue building blocks built in system programming languages like C, C++, and Java together.
These building blocks appear as commands, or verbs, in the script language. It is easy to embed Tcl into a legacy program so you can script the behavior of that program and add in other building blocks like a GUI interface. The Tcl interpreter is written in C and has been ported to almost every computer platform.
Major Features:
- Highlights of Tcl:
- Speed: 8.5 now runs 10% faster than 8.4 with bytecode improvements, object caching and reduced memory usage.
- Bignums: Tcl now supports arbitrary-precision integers, which improves math operations on large integers.
- Safer interps: Tcl's powerful safe interpreter mechanism now has improved control of time and command limits in slave interpreters.
- clock command: More robust implementation of command for specifying time, with significant l10n and i18n improvements.
- dict command: New data structure that allows access to data by value rather than a variable name, which is substantially faster.
- Additional improvements: Faster list search, new and improved mathematics procedures, anonymous procedures, new ways to package Tcl extensions, Tcl-level custom channel types, file and line location information for each command, and more.
- Highlights of Tk:
- New modern theming engine: New and complementary widgets that make use of platform-specific theming on Mac OS X and Windows to better fit in with those environments, and feature an improved look and feel under X11. (screenshots)
- New widgets: Part of the themed widget set, Tk now has core notebook, combobox, treeview and progressbar widgets.
- text widget: Smooth scrolling, widget peering, and improved procedures for counting and replacing text.
- Font rendering: Now uses anti-aliased text under X11, and a more modern text engine (ATSUI) on Mac OS X.
- Additional improvements: Window transparency, new fullscreen option for windows, enhancements to specific widgets and window layout, and more.

PgcEdit 8.6
A DVD IFO editor designed to allow the modification of the navigation commands and parameters more>> A DVD IFO editor designed to allow the modification of the navigation commands and parameters
PgcEdit is a DVD IFO editor designed to allow the modification of the navigation commands and parameters of an already authored DVD structure.
It is designed to supplement IfoEdit.
Any person eager to understand or modify the operation of a DVD knows IfoEdit (http://www.ifoedit.com). IfoEdit is an excellent freeware program which makes it possible to examine and modify (almost) all the information contained in the IFO files of DVDs. IfoEdit was written by Derrow.
Among ather things, IfoEdit allows you to modify the commands associated with PGCs (Program Chains). On this precise point however, it suffers from many limitations: it knows only some of the 41 existing commands, manages only some of the parameters of these commands, does not allow to create structured programs with conditions, branches etc... Moreover, it is very difficult to have an overall vision of all the commands of the DVD, because those are disseminated at various places in the DVD, among large amounts of other data.
I wrote PgcEdit to supplement IfoEdit. PgcEdit only enables editing the commands and modifying certain parameters of PGCs (Program Chains). On the other hand, it does not have the same limitations as IfoEdit: it allows one to edit all the commands with all their parameters, without other limitations than those imposed by the standard, and the philosophy of PgcEdit offers a better overall picture of the programming of the DVD. I have also added some functions as a bonus.
Furthermore, PgcEdit has a Trace mode allowing to follow the flow of the commands as they are played by a real player, watching the GPRMs, SPRMs and PUOs changes.
With this simulation, PgcEdit may be used as a powerful debugging tool.
PgcEdit is written in Tcl/Tk. Tcl/Tk is an interpreted scripting language. I
chose Tcl/Tk for its power in building interactive interfaces (GUI), and this is
a big deal: one needs a different dialogue box for each command! On the other hand, this choice has disadvantages: being an interpreted language, Tcl/Tk is slow. But that has only little incidence on PgcEdit. Another great advantage of Tcl/Tk is that an application can run indifferently on any platform which has a Tcl/Tk interpreter (Linux, Windows, MacOSX).
Enhancements:
- Added: "Info -> Jumps from current VTS to VMG" and "Jumps from all VTSs to VMG".
- Added: Preview option "Real Time Playback". Enabling this option can be useful to slow the playback down on fast machines.
- Kill PGC Playback: Improved detection of the potentially dangerous cell commands. As a consequence, some warnings are not displayed any more in some circumstances, and it is more often possible to remove the PGC cells.
- Import Menu: When importing a VMGM menu to a VTSM menu, PgcEdit converts now the Title Menu type to Root Menu, and vice-versa. A warning is issued when a Subpic, Audio, Angle or Chapter menu is imported in the VMGM.
- The DVD is now saved automatically after Import VTST Titles, Replace VTST Titles, Delete Last Titleset, Import Menu and Remove Menu, to keep the IFO and the VOBs synchronized on disc. An incremental backup is also made automatically after Import VTST Titles and Delete Last Titleset.
- Menu Editor: Advanced options modified slightly to be able to specify the currently selected button as the button to be activated automatically.
- PGC Editor -> Create New Cell: When the first cell is created in a menu domain, the user is now prompted for its aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9.)
- Modified PGC Editor -> Del Angles to be able to clear the "First ILVU End" values from cells when the angle flags and the interleaved allocation flag have been cleared manually. This makes possible to remove manually only some angle or interleaved cells in a PGC, and keep the other ones.
- Fixed: PGC Editor: The coloured warnings and tooltips of the seamless joint flags were sometimes wrong in multi-angle PGCs.
- Command Editor and command disassembler: LinkNoLink requires a non-zero highlighted button. The editor doesnt allow entering a LinkNoLink command without a button any more, and the disassembly of the LinkNoLink commands generates now an error when the button is not defined.
- Delete Uncalled PGCs and Delete Uncalled VTSs: Fixed an important bug occurring when those functions were called after having used trace mode.
- Fixed: Delete Uncalled PGCs: The Chapter tables were not assigned to the right titles when a title has been deleted before another one in the same VTS.
- Fixed: Delete Uncalled PGCs: Fixed an error occurring when Delete Uncalled PGCs is invoked several times in the same PgcEdit session and needs to detete some PGCs in the same VTST domain each time.
- Fixed: Trace mode: When playing a PGC in random or shuffle playback mode, the cells of the PGC were selected randomly instead of the programs.
- Fixed: Trace mode: When a NextPGCN link was executed after playback of a PGC without post-command, the trace stopped with a Target Not Found error.
- Fixed: Trace mode and highlighting of commands target: A LinkPGCN command in a title domain and jumping to another TTN was not considered as illegal.
- Fixed: Trace mode, under Linux: The preview options "Close and Break Trace" and "Blank This Cell" were not working. PgcEdit_preview.exe v 2.6 has been modified to support those options under Linux.
- Fixed: VOBU plugin: Fixed a bug in PgcEdit (introduced in v8.3) that prevented the selection of the start and end LBAs with the preview.
- Fixed: Option "User Interface -> Play sounds with yes/no/cancel dialog boxes ?". It might be necessary to disable this option if PgcEdit hangs when displaying its dialogs on computers with dual core CPUs.
- Fixed: Some little problems in Import and Export all Menu Buttons and BOVs when a titleset is deleted have been fixed. The useless information about the deleted VTS was still saved and loaded.
- Fixed: Create ISO, under Linux: The file save dialog to select the output ISO filename was not working correctly.
- Fixed: Set Menu Type: When using Set Menu Type to modify the position of a menu (such as the Root Menu) the Entry PGC flag was left on the original PGC.

SUMMON 1.8.6
python extension module more>> SUMMON provides rapid prototyping of 2D visualizations. By heavily relying on the python scripting language, SUMMON allows the user to rapidly prototype a custom visualization for their data, without the overhead of designing a graphical user interface or recompiling native code. By simplifying the task of designing a visualization, users can spend more time on understanding their data.
SUMMON is designed to be a fast interface for developing interactive visualizations (via scene graphs) for OpenGL. Although python libraries already exist for accessing OpenGL, python is relatively slow for real-time interaction with large visualizations (trees with 100,000 leaves, sparse matrices with a million non-zeros, etc.). Therefore, with SUMMON all real-time interaction is handled with compiled native C++ code (via extension module). Python is only executed in the construction and occasional interaction with the visualization. This arrangement provides the best of both worlds.
- Python C++ extension module.
- Fast OpenGL graphics.
- Drawing arbitrary points, lines, polygons, text with python scripting.
- Binding inputs (keyboard, mouse, hotspots) to any python function.
