Mathyma 1

Mathyma 1

the open source equation editor. more>> 1 Writing Mathematics
Have you given up on trying to write your maths notes as a Web page? Are you fed up of editing graphic files just to write an integral equation?
Mathyma makes childs play of writing mathematics directly into your HTML. You get all the advantanges of hyper-text mark-up (lay-out, links, etc.) and can utilise all the power of style sheets to give your pages a unified, professional look:
2 Drawing Graphs
common requirement in mathematical notation is to be able to draw graphs. MathymaGraph provides a simple method of doing this directly on the Web page. Graphs of functions of one variable, step functions, curves, polygons, scatter charts, etc. can be drawn. Here is an example of a conic section drawn with MathymaGraph:
3 Statistics Package
Traditionally, much of the work of learning about statistics has been spent number crunching. This limits the number of instructive examples that can be studied. The advent of the computer allows the statistician, either professional or student, much more time to study the data and its statistical consequences.
MathymaStats is a package of statistical tools that allows you to do a whole range of statistical analysis on your data, including analysis of variance (ANOVA), regression, and contingency tables.
All this is supported by a graphical tools, including scatter charts and box plots.
There is also a "look-up" facility for all the common distributions that should make your statistical tables redundant.
4 Matrix Calculations
Mathyma provides excellent tools for writing arrays and matrices on your Web page, but what if you just want to work out the product of two matrices, or the inverse of a square matrix?
It can also work out the sum of two matrices, the determinant of a matrix, the rank of a matrix, . . . and it also does calculations on vectors, such as dot product, cross product, angle between vectors . . .

XL-Plot 2.99

XL-Plot 2.99

Create your publication-ready graphs rapidly with XL-Plot. more>> The primary purpose of XL-Plot is to create a figure rapidly. It is ideal for for use at high school, as the path from data in one or more spreadsheet columns to the final figure is short (just a few mouse clicks) and easy to grasp.
It contains basic statistical functions, such as Students t-test and linear correlation of two sets of data (two columns in a spreadsheet). XL-Plot has a number of build-in functions that can be fitted to the data in columns on a spreadsheet or to a curve in a graph. The user can easily add fitting functions of his own design.
Additional options are Fourier transformation, (de-)convolution, eigen decomposition and matrix inversion.
Features.
Simple, intuitive "visual" program layout.
Fast: No useless options, few dialogue windows, lots of short-cuts and hence a minimum of mouseclicking to do, resulting in a gain of time.
The program is build around two types of window each having its own menu:
1) Windows showing vector drawings (drawing sheets).
2) Windows showing columns of numerical data (spreadsheets).
Items in the last two types of window may communicate such that a modification in a column in a spreadsheet results in a change in the associated vector graph, allowing easy editing.
By using copy and paste functions from the menu, data from either window may be copied to a spreadsheet or to a drawing sheet resulting in a column of numbers or a graph respectively.
The math library contains many useful functions such as convolution and deconvolution, Fourier transform, matrix inversion and eigen decomposition of a matrix.
Statistical tests for data in spreadsheet columns: linear correlation, chi-2 test, Students t-test, Fishers F-test, Tukeys q-test (one-way anova).
Bitmaps may be imported and manipulated on the drawing sheet.
Graphics may be exported to other vector drawing programs.

Serf 3.03

Serf 3.03

Analysis of electrophysiological data for MS-Windows. more>>

Serf 3.03 is created as an excellent tool which is like an analysis of electric-physiological data for MS-Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP. It accepts ASCII data, ISO-2 data and files in AxonInstruments formats for the PC (PClamp, Fetch etc) and the acIntosh (Axograph type 1 and 2). It has an interface for use with Media Cybernetics IP+ scripts. It outputs a vector drawing ready for publication.
Major Features:

  1. Simple, intuitive "visual" program layout.
  2. Fast: No need to switch between multiple programs to obtain your figure at last, no useless options, few dialogue windows, lots of short-cuts and hence a minimum of mouse-clicking to do, resulting in a gain of time.
  3. The program is build around four types of window each having its own menu:
    • Windows showing the raw input records (input windows).
    • Windows showing wav records (sound windows).
    • Windows showing vector drawings (drawing sheets).
    • Windows showing columns of numerical data (spreadsheets).
  4. Items in the last two types of window may communicate such that a modification in a column in a spreadsheet results in a change in the associated vector graph, allowing easy editing.
  5. The concatenated mode of plotting of input data allows a quick overview of an experiment.
  6. The path from input to graph may involve a single step or multiple steps using a spreadsheet to hold and manipulate temporary data.
  7. Curve fitting using either build-in or user-defined functions can be carried out in each of the three types of window.
  8. The math library contains many useful functions such as convolution and deconvolution, Fourier transform, matrix inversion and eigen decomposition of a matrix.
  9. Statistical tests for data in spreadsheet columns: linear correlation, chi-2, Students t-test, Fishers F-test, Tukeys q-test (one-way anova).
  10. Bitmaps may be imported and manipulated on the drawing sheet.
  11. Simulation of synaptic currents (minis) and Markov simulation of unitary currents, macroscopic currents and dwell time histograms.
  12. Estimation of rate constants of a Markov chain from experimental data (macroscopic currents and dwell time histograms).
  13. Create dwell time distributions from rate constants in a transition matrix.
  14. Rapid detection of synaptic currents using a user-defined template, stacked minis are recognised with high temporal resolution.
  15. Determine a system impulse response using your sound card.
  16. Data other than AxoLab files (PClamp, Axograph) may be imported in (tab- or comma-delimited) ASCII format.
  17. With the JRTalk extension Serf may be controlled by a program you have written in Visual Basic, Mediacys IP+ script or C.
