You load an image (.jpg, .bmp, etc...) and tune a few parameters, then click the Image-To-ASCII button to see the ASCII art. ASCII art is the use of text characters such as letters, numbers and punctuation marks to display an image.
There are several parameters you can play with when using this application. You can hand select which ASCII text characters will be used in the final image. You can adjust the text size used and the likeness threshold required when trying to fit characters to replace blocks of your image.
To gain more detail you can magnify your input image, which will effectively boost the number of characters used in the final image - often giving your ASCII art a better likeness to the original image.

This is done by expressing every pixel in your image with one or two colored ascii characters. Of course you have several options to configure the characters used to create the ascii picture. You may choose for example between: numbers, small/big characters, custom text and many more! To exactly fit your needs, you may change the font and fontsize used by the ascii picture.
Your image is too big? No problem.
ASCii.art is able to resize your image and even change the image quality. This modifications are only done in memory, your input image will remain exactly the same, so have no fear and use this feature.
In addition to these striking features ASCii.art is able to save your ascii picture in different formats. You may save the output picture as: HTML file without CSS, HTML file with CSS, RTF file, BMP image, PNG image, JPG image.
