BG_ASCII v1.3 is an interactive ASCII graphic tool. It can create color, halftone or black and white ascii pictures from image files (supports many image file formats - bmp, jpg, gif, ico, pcx, pcd, tiff and some other) and also can create monocolor or gradient color artistic ascii text. You can save your work as plain text, bmp image file or color html page.

ASCii.art enables you to convert your pictures to textfiles. It allows you to convert your .bmp, .jpg or .gif file to a .html or .rtf file. You can choose which text the pixel should represent in the target text file.
The created textfile looks nearly like the original picture using colored text. To reduce the size of the target text files you are able to resize the source image or sample down the image format from 24bit down to 1bit.
ASCii.art makes it possible to convert your favorite image to an ascii picture!
And it will look like the original image!
This is done by expressing every pixel in your image with one or two colored ascii characters. Of course you have several options to configure the characters used to create the ascii picture. You may choose for example between: numbers, small/big characters, custom text and many more! To exactly fit your needs, you may change the font and fontsize used by the ascii picture.
Your image is too big? No problem.
ASCii.art is able to resize your image and even change the image quality. This modifications are only done in memory, your input image will remain exactly the same, so have no fear and use this feature.
In addition to these striking features ASCii.art is able to save your ascii picture in different formats. You may save the output picture as: HTML file without CSS, HTML file with CSS, RTF file, BMP image, PNG image, JPG image.
In contrast to these output formats, ASCii.art can read BMP, GIF, JPG and PNG images. And of course ASCii.art is multithreaded. This means that you may stop the creation of your ascii picture at any time!
