The LEAD Vorbis Audio Codec is a DirectShow filter for compressing and decompressing audio data using the Vorbis compression algorithm. Vorbis is an audio compression method used to store digital music or any audio data. The compressed audio data can be stored inside AVI or Ogg files.
Compared to MP3 compressed audio files, Vorbis based compression produces audio files that maintain a higher sound quality and/or a smaller compressed size, depending on the needs of the user. For example, the user has the option of keeping their digital music collection at the same sound quality level as MP3, but requiring significantly less disk space. Or, a user can commit the same amount of storage (disk space) as their MP3 based files, however their digital music will have higher quality sound.

Release history: This combination driver was first published on 24 June 2002. The "combo" driver combined those two drivers into the one package and added support for the (at the time) new VT8235 southbridge. Further improvements have been made in subsequent releases, including adding support for more codecs and the driver package is now called Vinyl_AudioCodec.
Special note: VIA advises that where possible, users should install onboard sound drivers provided by their motherboard manufacturer.<<less

The highest bit rate supported by Atrac3 is 132 kbps (which they say is superior to MP3 128 kbps) and supplies a decent quality.
For the best quality ATRAC3 files, you must convert the tracks directly from the audio CD.
ATRAC3 is a compression technology based on Sony?s ATRAC (Adaptive TRansform Acoustic Coding) technology that originated with and is supported by MiniDisc. ATRAC3 achieves twice the data compression rate of ATRAC with virtually no loss in sound quality and reduces the size of audio data to 1/10 of the original audio CD source.
The audio compression technologies used by Sony will analyze the digital audio data and reduce its size by applying the newest digital audio technologies.

If you are using a DivX codec 4, 5 or later for playing DivX 3 contents and you do not have the DivX 3.11 Alpha codec installed this is a tool that you might need.
Some movies are created with WMA sound format which is unrecognizable by the mp3 codecs of DivX versions higher than 3. In such cases your player starts searching the net for the appropriate codec and never finds it because there is no such available for download.
The only available appropriate DivX audio codec comes with the DivX 3.11 alpha codec installation pack (other repacks also) - DivXa32.acm. So now youve got an unique DivX 3.11 Alpha repack that will install only the missing audio decompressor, will add an item in your audio compression manager (for win 9x - control panel / multimedia / devices / audio compression codecs) and also an option for uninstallation from control panel (add/remove programs).
This is an advantage over installing the whole of the DivX 3.11 pack because it installs its older video codecs which you do not need and it overwrites the registry and uninstall information which makes it impossible to uninstall DivX 3.11 Alpha and the other later DivX codec version you might have separately. This may cause some undesired behaviour of your codecs and players. All you need to do for hearing the WMA sound of your movie is to install this pack.
