Auqio Sound Studio is a professional editing solution for Microsoft Windows and high-quality audio recorder that helps you to record and capture sounds as it passes through your sound card.


Auqio Sound Studio captures anything from music streams to microphone input. It also doubles as a sound editor and clipboard manager in one integrated environment so you can manipulate your recordings and your existing Microsoft Wave Files in multiple layers, cropping, copying pasting, cutting, and enveloping your audio to your exact needs.

Also, remote recorder mode allows Auqio to tuck away into a small recording interface that saves space and increases productivity. It stays at the top of other applications so you can quickly get the recording you need with the recorder at the speed of a mouse click.

The Sound Studio application is designed for creating and modifying musical compositions. Unlike other musical sequencer/composers Sound Studio does not rely on midi to produce output. Instead it uses user defined sound samples which can be obtained from any sound source. To manipulate sampled data Sound Studio has its own built-in digital signal processing library. The end result is music which us more expressive and realistic than any other sequencer on the market.

Sound Studio is a Tcl/Tk application written by Paul Sharpe as his third year individual project, for which he received the Microsoft Prize for Software Engineering. It was subsequently improved by Robin Whitehead.

It enables recording, playback and simple cut & paste editing of sound files of diverse formats on a PC equipped with a soundcard and the OSS (formally VoxWare) sound drivers.

It uses Lance Norskogs Sox for format conversion; the version weve used is bundled together with this software in its entirety to prevent incompatibility problems, although you should try it with your own sox if you have a more recent one.

Sound Studio is now "finished", but no doubt there are loads of bugs still to be found and features to be added.

Sound Studio is a nice tool that allows you to take full advantage of your Macs built-in sound recording and playback capabilities, to digitize your collection of vinyl and tapes, to do live recording of audio, to edit new and pre-existing digital audio, and to save your audio in AIFF or Sound Designer II format to be used in other audio apps.

This beta version exipres on August 1, 2005, and does not require a registration code to run. The version 2.2 beta 1 is not a complete application yet and has some known issues.

Active Sound Studio is an ActiveX control developed by MultiMedia Soft that makes it easy adding sound playback capabilities to applications written with the most widely-used development environments that accept ActiveX controls such as Visual Studio 6 and Visual Studio.NET.

This ActiveX control, originally developed for the games market, helps developers adding sound playback to games and other commercial applications using the most diffused sound formats like MP3, WAV and OGG Vorbis. The most diffused MOD formats are managed also and, if the Microsoft Windows Media Player components are installed on the target PC, this ActiveX control can also manage WMA files and the sound frames of ASF and WMV files.

The control can retrieve the main information about the loaded sound files and its capable of retrieving TAG information for MP3 files (ID3V1 and ID3V2), OGG Vorbis files and Shoutcast ICY and Metadata for Internet streams.

A set of dedicated methods allows creating, loading and using playlists and applying special effects (DMOs and EAX) over the playing sound.

64 Studio is developing a collection of software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware (thats AMDs 64-bit CPUs and Intels EM64T chips).

Its based on the pure 64 port of Debian GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other customisations.

64 Studio has Debian Pure 64 with X.org, the Gnome desktop, kernel 2.6.12 with realtime preemption patches and a selection of creative applications. Please note that this release is provided for testing only, and comes with no warranty.

Problems in this release include useful packages missing or not installed by default, confusing Gnome menus and assorted warnings during installation. There are probably plenty of other things wrong with it as well, which is why were calling this an alpha release. But it does actually install and run on our Opteron and Athlon 64 test hardware.

Anyone who is interested in getting involved with the 64 Studio project would be most welcome. Our aim is to create a distribution with full (but completely optional) commercial support, which will generate revenue to pay free software developers.
