LinuxTLE project is a community Linux distribution developed in Thailand and designed for the Thai speaking audience. The early versions were based on Red Hat Linux and Fedora Core, but starting with version 8.0, the developers have chosen Ubuntu as the distributions new base system.

The projects latest release is a beta build of LinuxTLE 8.0 (code name "Patong"), a distribution now based on Ubuntu instead of Red Hat and Fedora Core as was the case with the previous versions.

knowde project is a knowledge management tool that lets you create a hierarchical tree structure of knowledge cards ("knowdes").

Despite its name, its not a KDE tool, but uses the GTK+ library and aims at supporting both Win32 and Unix-derivate systems.

The latest release 1.8.0 finally includes the keyword based choice list to jump between cross-referenced knowdes, adds selectable file-wide default fonts, help text, switchable layout rendering for the editor, and includes some minor bug-fixes in the tree view and the reader, where the knowdes date is now displayed.

MMBase is a Web Content Management System with strong multi media features and advanced portal functionalities. MMBase also has a large installed base in The Netherlands, and is used by major Dutch broadcasters, publishers, educational institutes, national and local governments.

MMBase is written in Java, it is Open Source Software (MPL) and all standards used are as open as possible. The system can be used with all major operating systems, application servers and databases.

A long anticipated release which packs a lot of new features and applications: optimized and cleaner code, new datatypes and improvements on fields, new taglib features like integration with EL, configurable caching mechanisms, RichText and other functionalities.

FTimes is a system baselining and evidence collection tool. FTimess primary purpose is to gather and/or develop information about specified directories and files in a manner conducive to intrusion analysis.

FTimes is a lightweight tool in the sense that it doesnt need to be "installed" on a given system to work on that system, it is small enough to fit on a single floppy, and it provides only a command line interface.

Preserving records of all activity that occurs during a snapshot is important for intrusion analysis and evidence admissibility. For this reason, FTimes was designed to log four types of information: configuration settings, progress indicators, metrics, and errors. Output produced by FTimes is delimited text, and therefore, is easily assimilated by a wide variety of existing tools.

FTimes basically implements two general capabilities: file topography and string search. File topography is the process of mapping key attributes of directories and files on a given file system. String search is the process of digging through directories and files on a given file system while looking for a specific sequence of bytes. Respectively, these capabilities are referred to as map mode and dig mode.

FTimes supports two operating environments: workbench and client-server. In the workbench environment, the operator uses FTimes to do things such as examine evidence (e.g., a disk image or files from a compromised system), analyze snapshots for change, search for files that have specific attributes, verify file integrity, and so on. In the client-server environment, the focus shifts from what the operator can do locally to how the operator can efficiently monitor, manage, and aggregate snapshot data for many hosts. In the client-server environment, the primary goal is to move collected data from the host to a centralized system, known as an Integrity Server, in a secure and authenticated fashion. An Integrity Server is a hardened system that has been configured to handle FTimes GET, PING, and PUT HTTP/S requests.

The FTimes distribution contains a script called nph-ftimes.cgi that may be used in conjunction with a Web server to implement a public Integrity Server interface. Deeper topics such as the construction and internal mechanics of an Integrity Server are not addressed here.

· FTimes has been written in C and ported to many popular OSes such as AIX, BSDi, FreeBSD, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris, and Windows 98/ME/NT/2K/XP. FTimes does not require additional runtime support such as a script interpreter (e.g., Perl) or a Virtual Machine (e.g., JVM).
· FTimes does not need to be installed on the clients machine. In many cases it can be run from a floppy or CDROM. Because of this, FTimes can be configured such that it is minimally invasive to the target system. This is important when trying to collect evidence of an attack on a live system.
· FTimes has thorough logging. This helps to increase its credibility and admissibility as evidence because the log information can be used to determine the known or potential error rate of the tool under various conditions. FTimes logs four types of information: configuration settings, progress indicators, metrics, and errors.
· FTimes detects and encodes non-printable characters (e.g., white space, carriage returns, etc.) in filenames. This ensures that your view of the output is not artificially altered by the data you are looking at. The URL encoding scheme used also helps you to quickly focus in on anomalous filenames.
· FTimes detects and processes Alternate Data Streams (ADS) when running on Windows NT/2K/XP systems. This is quite useful in cases where the perpetrator has used Alternate Data Streams to hide tools and information.
· FTimes output is delimited ASCII, and therefore, is conducive to analysis. This output can be assimilated using standard database technology as well as a wide array of existing tools. This makes it more flexible than proprietary database schemes that are essentially opaque to the practitioner. Ultimately, this format yields better analysis results because the practitioner is able to manipulate data freely, and peers may independently verify analysis results. Again, this helps to strengthen its credibility and admissibility as evidence.
· FTimes can be deployed as an enterprise solution with all information being transmitted to and preserved on a hardened Integrity Server. This allows for centralized management of data, and avoids the problem of leaving data exposed on a clients system. Data stored on a clients system is vulnerable to malicious modification or destruction.
· FTimes natively supports client initiated HTTP/HTTPS uploads/downloads. This eliminates the need for boundary devices such as firewalls to have a special inbound connection rules. Furthermore, theres a good chance that existing boundary devices already support the required outbound communications path because it is the same as that needed to browse the Web.
· FTimes provides an efficient string search capability (a.k.a. dig mode). This is particularly useful in investigations when the practitioner has a profile of key words or byte strings that are likely to exist somewhere on the target system.
· FTimes optionally supports device file digging (block/character).
· FTimes output is configurable on a per attribute basis. This allows users to develop data in a way thats best suited to their needs.
· FTimes optionally produces directory hashes. This is a significant analysis advantage in situations where content rarely changes. The advantage is that one hash effectively represents the content of all directories and files contained in a given tree.
· FTimes optionally produces symlink hashes.
· FTimes optionally performs file typing via XMagic. When there are hundreds or thousands of unknown hashes, it is difficult to determine which files may have changed as a result of a malicious act. In these situations, type information can be used to categorize files and prioritize the order in which they are examined.
· FTimes has an extremely fast, tunable compare capability. This enables the practitioner to quickly analyze snapshots and determine change.

Whats New in This Release:

Version 3.8.0 is a minor release of FTimes. Generally, code was cleaned up and refined as necessary. Several bugs have been fixed -- see the ChangeLog for details. This release includes support for SHA256 hashes, include/exclude filters, and a number of additional file systems (DATAPLOW_ZFS, NTFS-3G, NWCOMPAT, UDF). HashDig utilities have been updated to support SHA1 and SHA256 hashes, and the
following tools have been been added to the project:
ftimes-crv2dbi.pl, ftimes-dig2dbi.pl, hashdig-find.pl, and tarmap. First off, architecture. The phpShop system is all interpreted by one main php file called index.php. index.php is in web space so that your Web Server Root directory under Apache would look something like:

/home/httpd/html/ <- location of the web server root.
/home/httpd/html/demo <- location of phpShop interpreter (index.php)

The index.php interprets commands based on three bits of information.

1. the page you want to see and
2. if you want to perform a function before you view the page.
3. list of argument that are appropriate to the function called

Pages

All navigation in phpShop is done via a call to the page parameter in the URL. For example, to view the main shop page you would issue a URL such as

http://www.phpshop.org/demo/?page=shop/index

The key piece of this is the "?page=shop/index" bit. It tells the phpShop interpreter to open the file:

"modules/shop/html/index.ihtml";

We assume all paths are relative to the phpshop installation directory.

Notice that the ".ihtml" is automatically appended to the page name for inclusion and that shop is actually the name of a module installed in the phpShop modules directory.

The phpShop processor not only displays the page but also checks permissions for the current user against the module register. This lets administrators determine who gets access to what visual parts of the site.

Modules/Functions

A word on modules. In order to increase to ease with which new features can be added to phpShop, we employed the concept of using modules. A module defines a feature set of phpShop by providing class files, html layouts, and the database definitions related to that particular module. All of the phpShop modules are located in the DOCROOT/modules directory. The structure of each of the module is as follows:

DOCROOT/modules/module_name

html <- location of the ihtml files used for this module.
lib <- location of the ps_*.inc files used for this module.
sql <- location of the database definition file for this module.

Each module is defined and set in the phpShop module register. The module definition form allows the site administrator to define the following bits of information:

* module name: The name of the module. This must be the name of the directory of the module. It is used in the page= statement as the directory name.
* module perms: The perms of this module. Defines who has access to the module html directory of this module.
* module header: Defines the name of the header file to use for this module. The header is prepended to every page loaded using the page= statement. The header is found in the DOCROOT/modules/templates directory.
* module footer: Defines the name of the footer file to use for this module. The footer is appended to every page loaded using the page= statement. The footer is found in the DOCROOT/modules/templates directory.
* module menu: Specifies whether this module forms part of the administrative interface main menu. If set to YES, then the module is visible as a menu option for those users that have permission to browse the files in its html directory.
* display order: Used to give the module a number by which to sort its position in the administrative interface main menu.
* module description: Used to give this module a description so that other users can be informed of how to utilize this module or at least understand its purpose.
* language code: Defines a language code.
* language file: Sets the file associated to the language code for this module. The language file is located in the moduless lib directory.
* language menu label: Sets the label to use in the administrative interface when the specified language is being used.


It is very important to understand how modules work since everything, including the shop, is a module.

Each phpShop module has a list of functions that can be called from the URL. For example, to add a user into the system, you would issue a URL such as:

http://www.phpshop.org/demo/?page=shop/index&func=userAdd&username=myuser
&password=password&last_name=Smith&first_name=John

The keys of this URL are the page and func=userAdd function call. Everything else following the page and func are arguments sent to the userAdd function. Each function has its own list of arguments based on their use.

Notice that the userAdd function is not part of the shop module, but can still be called. This shows that even though a modules html directory cannot be accessed by a user without privelages, its function may be called since the module functions have their own permission settings.

In this case, the userAdd function is called. If the function is successfull then the user will be routed to the "page=shop/index". If the function is unsuccessful, then the last page from which the function was called is shown again displaying the generated error message.

What makes a function call successfull or not depends on a few things:

1. The function must be registered with the phpShop system. This is done/maintained in the module register.
2. The user must have permission to use this function. The user permissions are checked against the permissions in the module register.
3. The function arguments are validated to make sure that all data required for the operation was given accurately, as defined in each of the class validation methods.
4. The function is executed and flow to the next page is set to "page=shop/index" if no errors were returned.

Fixes and Other

· Fixed style sheet formatting and page layout for demo store and admin area. Looks much more pleasing to the eye.
· Created new folder structure in htdocs for images/, styles/ and javascript/. shop images (a.k.a. shop_image) are now under images/shop/. This means you need to change your store info to point to the new image path.
· Change the way we generate menus in the admin area by using a slidemenu.
· Removed all eval(load_class)) calls. This was left over from PHP 3 ? , we dont need it anymore. require_once will do the trick. The load_class function is still there for backwards compat.
· Removed LIBROOT, DOCROOT, MODROOT constants. All paths are relative. Include path is automatically set to /path/to/phpshop/modules/
· Changed all .ihtml files to be XHTML compliant.
· Made the Product Special field a checkbox. No need to type in Y or N.
· Changed filename for phpshop.cfg to config.php
· Changed formatting of config.php file to use one define per directive.
· Added category name to product listing in admin.
