Similar to the Back button, but works even after opening a link in a new window. Useful for getting from an image to the thumbnail gallery it was in if you have closed that gallery. Marty McFly and Doc Brown have traveled back through time to the year 1885 ? and theyre soon deep in trouble when they face "Mad Dog" Tannens gang and have to find a way to return to the present. This game takes four scenes from the Hollywood movie Back to the Future III and turns them into arcade sequences:
Buckboard Chase: Doc Brown goes horseback in an attempt to save Hill Valleys lovely school teacher Clara. This game of quick ducking, jumping and shooting alternates between a side-scrolling and a top-down perspective.
Shooting Gallery: The name says it all. A classic game of aim-and-shoot, spiced up by hidden extras and bonus targets.
Pie Throwing: Meet the Mad Dog gang. They have guns, and you have... cream pies. Its an isometric version of the shooting gallery, only with ammo. And the targets shoot back.
The Train: Basically a side-scrolling beat-em-up on train wagons with some ducking and jumping. Get rid of the mechanics and collect speed logs to push the engine to a magic 88 mph.
One of the extras on the DVD was all concept art etc of the DeLorean, and there were some basic blueprints included. That was enough to give the basic shape of the car, so I started making a 3D model of it.
But for whatever reason I stopped. I dont remember why, maybe I was abducted by ferrets and had my memory erased, or maybe I just thought of something Id rather do.
Anyway for some reason the BTTF DVDs werent released in the US til November or something. And once they were released I started getting requests for a screensaver. So after all the Christmas stuff was over with I blew the dust off the half finished model and decided to finish it off. And here it is!
Its basically just got the time traveling DeLorean driving around an endless car park (it was meant to be the Twin/Lone Pines Mall car park but I havent had time to make it any more detailed). Randomly the car will speed up to 88mph and go thru time.
Ive sat and watched this thing for hours, and I think its pretty nifty. Dr.Emmet Brown and Marty McFly would be proud!
If youre sick of watching you can activate the Game Mode and take control of the car yourself. Theres not much to it, you just drive around, and if you drive fast enough youll go thru time.
This thing isnt perfect, but Ive never seen anything like it before. (All Ive been able to find BTTF-wise is slideshow yawnfests) So if you find anything better, use it. Complaining about free software leads to unfortunate voodoo curses being put on you.
GAME MODE INSTRUCTIONS
Thats right, this ultra-nifty Useless Creation lets you take control of the time traveling DeLorean yourself!
When its driving around if you choose to play press Space and the Game Mode will be started.
The keys are:
Up Arrow: Accelerate.
Down Arrow: Brake.
Left/Right Arrows: Turn.
Space Bar: Switch between normal and hover modes.
C: Switch camera modes.
