Bibus 1.4.0 RC2

Bibus 1.4.0 RC2

Can directly insert references in OpenOffice.org and MS Word and generate the bibliographic index. more>> Can directly insert references in OpenOffice.org and MS Word and generate the bibliographic index.

Bibus is a bibliographic and reference management software, which allows to search, edit, and sort bibliographic records.
Considering the fact that the heart of this software is the database engine (MySQL and SQLite) and since it is not possible to delete a reference in Bibus, the risk to get a catastrophic crash is very low. You must however remember to make regular backups of the database.
If you use SQLite, you just have to copy the database file. If you use MySQL the easiest way is probably to use mysqldump (mysqldump -p Biblio > biblio.sql).
Main features:
- Hierarchical organization of the references with user defined keys
- Designed for multiuser environments
You can share the database between an "unlimited" number of users
Each user will have its own classification
You can define read-only and read-write users
- Live queries; that is searches that update as the database changes
- On-line PubMed queries
- On-line eTBLAST queries
- Insertion of references and formatting of bibliographies into two widely used Word Processors (OpenOffice.org and Microsoft Word)
- Foreign language support through Unicode and gettext

Enhancements:
- New table to save a trace of the creator and last modifier of a reference
- Editable Journal abbreviation list
- Hitting a key now scroll to the first reference starting with this letter
- Export to sqlite now preserves keys
- Updated and new translations
- New configuration. Simplify setup.

The cb2Bib is a software application that reads the clipboard text contents and process it against a set of predefined patterns more>>
The cb2Bib is a software application that reads the clipboard text contents and process it against a set of predefined patterns The cb2Bib is a software application that reads the clipboard text contents and process it against a set of predefined patterns.
If this automatic detection is successful, cb2Bib formats the clipboard data according to the structured BibTeX reference standard.
Otherwise, if no predefined format pattern is found or if detection proves to be difficult, manual data extraction is greatly simplified by cb2Bib.
In most cases, such manual data extraction will provide with a new, personalized pattern to be included within the predefined pattern set for future automatic extractions.
Once the bibliographic reference is correctly extracted, it is added to a specified BibTeX database file. Optionally, article PDF files, if available, are renamed to its citeID and moved to a desired directory as a personal article library.

Easymacs 2.0

Easymacs 2.0

Easymacs is an easy-to-learn, one-size-fits-all configuration for new users of GNU Emacs more>>
Emacs is an enormously powerful, flexible and configurable text editor. In addition to being a well-known tool for computer programmers, it is also an unsurpassed environment for editing LaTeX and XML files.
However, its default behavior is in many ways very different from what has become standard for most other applications. Because of this, and because of its complexity, many people shy away from it, non-programmers in particular.
What is Easymacs?
Easymacs is an easy-to-learn, one-size-fits-all configuration for new users of GNU Emacs.
Easymacs sets up key bindings that attempt to conform to a common denominator of the Microsoft Windows/Gnome/KDE/OS X human interface guidelines, and provides function-key bindings for other powerful Emacs features.
Easymacs is fully documented, and the new user can productively edit text right away, without going through the Emacs tutorial. Many commonly-used functions can be accessed without having to learn the "chords", or multiple serial keystrokes that Emacs uses by default.
Who is it for?
Easymacs was designed with the non-programmer in mind, someone who would like to use Emacs to edit mainly text files, especially LaTeX and TEI-conforming XML.
Since many aspects of the configuration of Emacs require a certain knowledge of programming, this sort of person might find the default behavior of Emacs too foreign and too hard to reconfigure.
In other words, Easymacs is an Emacs configuration for people who:
- hate Emacs.
- find Emacs confusing.
- want to get started quickly.
- are accustomed to modern keyboard shortcuts.
- cant remember long, cryptic sequences of keystrokes.
- dont want to spend years configuring their text editor.
- dont like reading masses of documentation.
- dont like the Emacs tutorial.
- are impatient.
- are lazy.
Main features:
- All of the usual features of an editor: undo, redo, search and replace, intelligent indentation and wrapping.
- There are many convenient ways of entering non-ASCII text, including Unicode and various exotic encodings.
- Spell-checking as you type. This distinguishes between true misspellings and words which are used more than once in a file, and so are likely to be correct but unknown. You can correct misspellings with a single keystroke (F8).
- Most file-types define syntax-sensitive highlighting and folding (F7).
- Rectangular selection of text, which can be also used to insert the same text in many columns (Ctrl-Return).
- Visible, persistent bookmarks to mark particular lines in a file (Alt-F2).
- You can search for text in multiple files in a given folder or set of subfolders (Ctrl-Shtf-F9). The output displays a menu of the lines in the different files that match a your pattern, and you can jump from one to the next with a single keystroke (F10 or Alt-`).
- Auto-completion of words based on the content of other open files (F5), or on a dictionary (Shft-F8).
- Multiple cut and paste clipboards (just hit Ctrl-number before cutting, copying or pasting, and the commands will use the clipboard numbered 0-9 for that operation).
- History of clipboard contents: you can browse through the past contents of the clipboard and insert any one of the previous contents (Shft-Ctrl-V).
- Keyboard macros that let you record (Alt-Shft-F5) and play back (Alt-F5) a series of keystrokes, to ease repetitive tasks.
- You can look up the word at the cursor in dictionaries and thesauri with a single keystroke (Alt-F8).
- You can easily switch between open files via a menu (F9), or other quick shortcuts (Shft-F9, Ctrl-F9). There is also a menu of recently opened files (Alt-Shft-F1).
- There is a full command shell for manipulating files and running commands. (Alt-F9).
- Shows a clickable table of contents of a document split across many files, which you can use to navigate.
- Put the cursor on a cross-reference to see the corresponding label text, and click on it to go right there, even across multiple files. When you insert a cross-reference, choose from the list of appropriate labels in the document.
- Put the cursor on a citation to see the corresponding Bibtex entry, and click on it to go there. Insert bibliographical citations with prompting based on the contents of the Bibtex database.
- As you read through a book to index it, generate a list of terms to be indexed, and then go through the text, semi-automatically inserting the necessary index commands.
- When you proofread the index, you can generate a version of the index right in your editor, with clickable links back to each index command in the source code
- You can view the TEI documentation for the current element, drawn from the TEI P5 Guidelines (which are included with Easymacs), by hitting Shft-F1.
- You can insert an example TEI template into your blank document by hitting Ctrl-F10.
- You can validate your documents as you type against the example schemas included with Easymacs (including TEI-lite). If you use a custom schema, after editing it, you can reload it in your TEI file by hitting Ctrl-F11.
- You can transform your TEI documents into HTML, LaTeX or FO at a keystroke using the included TEI XSL stylesheets (Shft-F11 - requires an XSLT processor to be installed)
- Easymacs comes with schemas for validating XHTML, TEI, Docbook, XSLT, and you can add your own.
- You can avail of the benefit of continuous validation when you edit web pages, if you write them in XHTML instead of plain HTML. See here for more details on how to do this. If you want to write regular HTML, then you still get a powerful environment for doing so, which has many conveniences that you can explore via the menus. There is a shortcut for validating the file using an external tool, such as nsgmls.
- XML/HTML files are automatically indented properly.
- Easymacs supports the editing of blocks of php/css/javascript, etc. in your XML/HTML files (F12).
- As mentioned above, there is auto-completion of XML element names and attribute names and values, depending on the information given by the schema (Shft-Return).
- With a single keystroke, you can close the current element (Shft-F12), insert the closing tag at the same time as the opening tag (Ctrl-F12 or Ctrl-Shft-F12), split the current element (Alt-Shft-F12), or even automatically guess the markup currently needed on the basis of markup elsewhere in the document (Alt-F12).
- You can view the current document in a browser (F11), or run it through an XSLT processor (Shft-F11).
- There are facilities for entering unicode characters by name (Alt-F10) or nickname (Alt-Shft-F10).
- Easymacs will examine your XML document for xml:lang attributes and set the spell-checkers dictionary to the appropriate language for each section of the document.
- Emacs is a programmers editor, and it has too many programming features to enumerate here. Most computer languages have extensive support built into Emacs. These include syntax highlighting, compiling, jumping to the source of errors, finding function definitions, etc.

eDataIndexer 1.0

eDataIndexer helps you organize your information. Stop having information in separate files or keeping data in big files needing more>>
eDataIndexer helps you organize your information. Stop having information in separate files or keeping data in big files needing you to scroll to find.
A hierarchy tree structure and rich text formatting allows you to have information in a structure easy to use.
The eDataIndexer is a convenient way to organize your class notes. Instead of keeping your class notes in separate documents, you can store them in the eDataIndexer where the titles of the notes (e.g. the date of the class) are organized neatly in a hierarchical fashion.
By clicking on one of the "nodes" in the hierarchy on the left the notes appear instantly in the editing area on the right for your quick perusal. No longer do you have to wait for documents to slowly open before you can scan the contents.
Now you can quickly shuffle through your notes as if on index cards easily opening and closing them.
Data is easily added, changed, or deleted according to your needs. Nodes in the hierarchy can also easily be added or deleted.
Another use for the eDataIndexer is to collect and organize those useful quotes which you come across during all the reading you have to do while studying.
Instead of writing the quotes on pieces of paper and losing them later, simply index them in the eDataIndexer for easy reference anytime.
This way you will always have the full bibliographical information and the quote at hand for when you need it for your next academic research paper or even your thesis or dissertation.
Enjoy having neat notes and conveniently available quotes all the time by using the eDataIndexer.
Main features:
- Structure Tree to index the information.

Scholars Aid 4 AE

bibliographical data manager and notes/information manager. more>> Freeware version of Scholars Aid, the most popular bibliographical data manager and notes/information manager. Scholars Aid keeps bibliographical data and notes together, for the very good reason that scholars always need to keep their notes linked to the sources from which those notes were made. Indeed, in academic writing, scholars constantly support their argument by reference to the sources on which they have worked. Thus, in directly quoting from one of these sources, or in making reference to anothers ideas, rigorous academic scholarship demands accurate and detailed citation of those original sources.<<less
