Segments are named sub-sections of tracks, defined by a start and end position, which can be as short as 1/75th of a second or as long as the whole track. Segment data is held with the other CD data in the catalogue. Segments can be used simply as cue points for playback, or they can define ranges for sampling. CD++ will record Segments as samples, and save them as Windows .wav format sound-files. Note that this ability to sample audio data from a CD is not meant to encourage the use of such samples in breach of copyright.
