Play a number of different chords with the built-in MIDI instruments. more>> This program was a bit of an accidental discovery, in reality. It uses the built-in MIDI instruments in your PC to play a number of different chords ALL based around the SAME root-note. Then it switches to another root note. It uses all 45 "nameable" chords (all Minor, Major, Dominant, Diminished, Augmented and Altered types), but excluding so-called polytonal "slash" chords, with an additional bass note, and excluding inversions of all the above. Thats still 12 x 45 = 540 chords altogether.
I was just surprised it sounded good, since this outcome was a trial-run on the way to doing something else.
The user can choose one from 120 of the built-in MIDI instruments.<<less

The Sun position is calculated from the time of year and the Moon position has been carefully calculated and should be within a degree of its actual position. If people are interested, I may add the ISS location in a future version.

What is a sidereal clock? Astronomy buffs (radio and the other kind) often use a special clock which is based upon "star time". If you used your normal clock and timed when a distant star passed due south of you each night, you would find that each night it passed about 4 minutes earlier.
That happens because in addition to the 360 degrees the Earth rotates in 24 hours it also moves 1/365.25 of its orbit around the Sun. Thus, we swing into position to see a given point in the sky a little earlier every night.
Celestial objects are located on the sky by a coordinate system which includes a celestial longitude (Right Ascension) and latitude (Declination). The right ascension of a celestial object is same as the local mean sidereal time that the object will pass an imaginary line drawn from the celestial pole to due South ( 180 degrees azimuth).
Thus, if you know the local mean sidereal time (LMST) you also know what objects are in meridian transit at your location. If this isnt clear, most any astronomy text can can explain it in better detail.
The Sidereal Clock application was designed to calculate the local mean sidereal time (LMST) based upon the computers local clock, the users time zone, and the users longitude.
In order to keep the desktop presence of the clock small the menu is triggered by Right Clicking on the clock face, (not the title bar - that is used for dragging the clock to a different place on the desktop).
