cFos description

· cFos allows application for serial ports to be used with ISDN and DSL.

· If you use the "-L4" parameter, cFos will monitor and display all incoming calls. In addition, a LOGFILE.TXT is created and written to disk if you enter "-L1, -L2" or "-L3." Your local area code can be turned off by adding "-h= ." But the Call Monitor can do so much more! For instance, you could have incoming calls trigger sounds and launch programs (see also cfini_e.htm).
· Display connection status and parameters as animated skins! The Call Monitor and all COM ports each get their own window, which is opened and closed as needed by cFos. More details can be found here.
· By adding "-jt" as a parameter, you can have cFos keep your computer automatically synchronized with ISDN time, which ensures your PC clock always runs the correct time.
· If you enter "ATS19=n," cFos will close the connection after n minutes of inactivity. Adding "S74.0=1" will disconnect you only when your current charge unit is over, which ensures your units are used with maximum efficiency and at the lowest cost to you.

Whats New in This Release:

· Added differential statistics to "spd pingstat". The numbers in brackets are the counts starting after the last time a ping worked. This should help diagnose problems where pings work but at some time stop doing so.
· Circumvented some strange behaviour with certain routers that resulted in switching method from PPPoE to PPPoA. Thanks to Hagen Roehrig and Benny for traces.
· Language added: Hungarian, which makes a total of 12 languages supported.
· "spd cstat" now shows txspeed and max_queue_size as well.
· TCP RWIN is now set so that DSL-6000 (and other 6mbit fast connections) will work with full speed.
· Some other components seem to have problems when cFosSpeed executes concurrent calls to BindAdapter in parallel. Now cFosSpeed executes only one call at a time. Thanks to KY Wong for testing.

· Circumvented a crash that sometimes happened in Windows pshed.sys.

· Removed all "fixes" for that "socket send error 10022". It turned out that the only working fix to this problem was to deinstall the firewall (in two cases it was the AVG firewall). Hopefully, the firewalls manufacturer will fix the problem.

Exact Build project is a sane GNU Auto replacement. For portable build systems nowadays normally GNU autoconf and the associated companiens such as automake and libtool. However albeit portable they are rather crufty to use. The various macro expansion and generation steps extremely blow up the initial definitions and make execution slow and debugging a nightmare.

Even with the enourmous code bloat, it does not have a wide feature set and neither allows to maximize the gain of parallel builds nor other state-of-the-art compiler features. Manual tinkering is needed in such cases.

Mostly due the code bloat but also to obtain features such as mximal parallel build and object output seperated cleanly from the source, we create our own set of Makefiles for the non-recursive build system and shell scripts for configuration, if required by the software module (some straight forware code does come without a configure script at all).

Vexi is a platform for creating and publishing Graphical User Interfaces that can be used over the Internet or an intranet.

Vexi project features a very simple and powerful syntax based on xml and javascript, a set of complete, extensible, themable widgets, and a sandbox-like security model to protect users.

Vexi2 is in the final stages of stabilization. All features have been implemented. Most remaining work to be done is on project infrastructure (documentation, demos, etc) so that a visitor can easily use and learn about Vexi.

Soon Vexi will be able to adapt to each browser and platform, allowing it to work on most desktop computers without administrative intervention. Currently it requires Java is present on the client machine but the native builds are the next focus for the project.

For reliable benchmarking, we highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with these testing guidelines:

· Restart the computer before running the benchmark.
· Exit all other programs.
· Under the 32-bit Windows operating systems, other tasks can preemptively run during the tests, thus affecting the results. You will want to eliminate as many of these types of tasks as possible, such as automatic updates in operating systems, e-mail clients or other tasks from your StartUp folder. This action also maximizes your available memory.
· Disable all file sharing and possibly also all network connections. Background network activity may affect results. You can submit your results even if you run the benchmark without network connection. Save your results in the default format (.pcr) and restart your system with network connection after the benchmark run. Run PCMark04 and submit your saved result by selecting the Submit Saved Result item in the right click menu (open the right click menu by right clicking the PCMark04 main window).
· Follow a standard testing procedure each time you run the tests. Run the tests at least three times to verify that the results are reproducible.
· Before running the HDD tests, the target drive should be first defragmented in order to receive accurate results.
