This was what I was trying to make when I made OpenGL Mistake No.2... Its a very simplistic attempt to create a visual equivalent to a musical instrument (and isnt necessarily successful).
Basically, this is a little project that evolved out of my PhD research - where Im trying to create a musical instrument where the sound output is intimately connected to visual output.
In doing this, I had the thought of creating a visual equivalent to a musical instrument - i.e. something that creates an abstract visual output in the same way that (traditional) musical instruments create abstract audio output (meaning the sound/visual doesnt automatically make you think: "thats a picture of a building" or "thats the sound of a car").
Anyway, it doesnt do much - its just a wee test program, but I think its pretty cool, and I think theres a lot of further exploration possible in terms of creating interactive, realtime visual instruments.
