ClearType is a software technology developed by Microsoft that improves the readability of text on existing LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays), such as laptop screens, Pocket PC screens and flat panel monitors. With ClearType font technology, the words on your computer screen look almost as sharp and clear as those printed on a piece of paper.
ClearType works by accessing the individual vertical color stripe elements in every pixel of an LCD screen. Before ClearType, the smallest level of detail that a computer could display was a single pixel, but with ClearType running on an LCD monitor, we can now display features of text as small as a fraction of a pixel in width. The extra resolution increases the sharpness of the tiny details in text display, making it much easier to read over long durations.<<less

Traditional Chinese Fonts shipped with Windows XP use embedded bitmaps to provide legibility at small sizes on the screen. Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) does not display these bitmaps but instead renders the outlines.
These outlines are not instructed (hinted) for good legibility and the results are poor. Microsoft JhengHei Regular and Bold Version 5.00 have been properly instructed for legibility at 9 point size and above in ClearType environments such as WPF. ClearType works best on LCD monitors.

Consolas Font Pack for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 is designed to be used in programming environments or in any other situation where a monospaced font is specified.
All characters have the same width, like old typewriters, making it a good choice for personal and business correspondence.
Optimizing the font specifically for ClearType allowed a design with proportions closer to normal text than traditional monospaced fonts like Courier. This allows for more comfortable reading of extended text on-screen.
The package will change the default text face in Visual Studio to the Consolas family.
This package is only intended for licensed users of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or 2008.

This release is based on the all-new AutoPatcher 5.6. This is an addon pack that you can add to the main AutoPatcher for Windows XP SP2 (x86) / Windows 2K / Windows Server 2003 SP1,R2,SP2 (x86) releases.
It will also apply to the main AutoPatcher for Windows Vista release once a compatability problem with the Vista release has been corrected.
Once that compatability issue hs been resolved which also affects the AutoPatcher for Windows XP/Server-2003 x64 release, and x64 edition of this addon pack will be released which will apply to the Vista and x64 releases.

Sentinel is a Windows XP visual style inspired by the Windows Media Player skin called The Sentinel, made by The Skins Factory.
There are two ways to run it:
1 - You can extract everything to a folder and go double-clicking all the .msstyle files and manually change color schemes and matching wallpapers or you can
2 - Extract all the .theme files and Sentinel_A and Sentinel_B folders to your %WINDIR%Resourcesthemes folder and select the color schemes from Display Properties, this way is quicker but it takes up a lot of space on your themes list and youll most probably loose your cursor and the default desktop icon settings
Here are the Commandments to obey when using Sentinel :
- Though shallt use ONLY Normal Size fonts.
- Though shallt NOT use large icons in the quick launch area.
- Use ClearType font smoothing, otherwise titlebar fonts look blocky.
- Disable the Address Toolbar from your taskbar cos it throws it off sync when youre using multiple-line taskbars.
- Disable the Language Bar from the taskbar.
The main visual style is just about complete, still need to do vertical taskbar, logonUI, cursors, shell32 animations and icons.
There are 14 color schemes most of them are based on a light color but a few, namely Black2, and Graphite are very dark, great at night but I dont recommend using them for too long...itll affect your mood.
Some of the color schemes from the MMD3 Winamp3 skin match some of these color schemes really well.
All the images have been optimized so dont worry about performance
