Csound 5.05

Csound 5.05

Csound is a user-programmable and user-extensible sound processing language more>>
Csound is a user-programmable and user-extensible sound processing language Csound is a music and sound synthesis system, that will provide you with facilities for composition and performance over a wide range of platforms.
Csound is not restricted to any style of music, having been used for many years in the creation of classical, pop, techno, ambient, experimental, and (of course) computer music, as well as music for film and television.
Csound 5 is the current version and its software architecture has been greatly redesigned, presenting a number of significant advantages over Csound 4 for both the user and for developers wishing to call Csound from their own software.
Main features:
- A new, easier to manage build system using SCons.
- The use of widely--accepted open source libraries
- libsndfile for soundfile input and output.
- PortAudio with ASIO drivers for low-latency, real-time audio input and output.
- FLTK for graphical widgets that can be programmed in orchestra code.
- PortMidi for real-time MIDI input and output.
- In addition, Istvan Varga has contributed native MIDI and audio drivers for Windows and Linux.
- Simplified audio buffering system.
- Status returns from all internal functions, including opcode functions.
- MIDI interop opcodes, that enable the same instrument definitions to be used interchangeably for either live MIDI performance or off-line, score-driven performance.
- Plugin opcodes are working and becoming more widely accepted. Many opcodes have been moved to plugins.
- The FluidSynth-based SoundFont opcodes.
- Python opcodes allowing Python code to execute in the orchestra header or in instrument code, at i-rate or k-rate.
- Loris opcodes for time/frequency analysis and resynthesis.
- Control bus opcodes.
- Audio mixer opcodes.
- String conversion opcodes.
- Improved Open Sound Control (OSC) opcodes.
- Vectorial opcodes.
- The pvs opcodes for real-time spectral processing, a port of Mark Dolsons phase vocoder code.
- The ATS opcodes for spectral Analysis, Transformation, and Synthesis of sound based on a sinusoidal plus critical-band noise model. A sound in ATS is a symbolic object representing a spectral model that can be sculpted using a variety of transformation functions. These opcodes can read, transform and resynthesize ATS analysis files. Please note that you need the ATS application to produce analysis files.
- The STK opcodes, consisting of Perry Cooks original Synthesis Toolkit in C++ instruments, in C++, adapted as opcodes.
- DSSI and LADSPA adapter opcodes for hosting DSSI and LADSPA plugins in Csound.
- vst4cs VST adapter opcodes for hosting VST plugins in Csound.
- The OpcodeBase.hpp header file for writing plugin opcodes in C++. This is based on the technique of static polymorphism via template inheritance.
- Istvan Vargas csound5gui frontend for Csound, simplifying the editing of Csound, the use of Csound especially for live performance, and the monitoring of performances.
- Victor Lazzarinis Tcl/Tk frontends for Csound, cstclsh and cswish.
- The Csound API is becoming more standardized and more widely used.
- Csound is now truly re-entrant, meaning that multiple instances of Csound can run at the same time, in the same process.

Csound Editor 1.4.149

Csound Editor 1.4.149

Csound Editor is designed as an integrated development environment for Csound compilers more>>
Csound Editor is designed as an integrated development environment for Csound compilers.
Edit Csound files, run Csound, launch utilities and manuals using one program. Csound Editor is designed to focus on the document and not on the user interface, it does not hide csound code from your view.
I wrote this editor a long time ago, but a lot of people still seem to find it useful. Im not maintaining this program anymore, but if you want to, jusk ask and Ill send you the (horrible) source files.
Main features:
- User-defined presets for Csound command lines and utilities.
- Syntax highlight.
- Integrated sound player.
- Code Outline. A tree view control that displays source code elements.
- Switch between orchestra and score with a click.
- In-context opcode help.
- Related Files panel. Shows the files of a Csound project.
- Pick opcodes from a list.
- Orchestra and score conversion to and from unified file format (csd).
- Store your favorite code fragments and quickly reuse them.
- Quick dialogs to insert orchestra headers, instruments, macro definitions, include statements, random values.

Csound Ghost_Writer 10X

Csound Ghost_Writer 10X

DSP Audio instrument more>> Csound Ghost_Writer is an open source DSP Audio instrument which runs on Csound. It is mainly a GUI for creating custom instrument and textures for electronic music.
Its main audience is IDM, Circuitbent, and Chiptune musicians. It also acts as a useful tool to help integrate Csound newbies to practical .orc and .sco file writing. Csound is not just for upper crust university researchers. It runs off the Windows platform with the use of Csound5VST. Contained within the program are direct streaming downloads for optional additional features like: Audacity, Python, and more.

Blue 0.123.1

Blue 0.123.1

It allows for a compositional organization in time. more>> blue is a java program for use with Csound. Its interface is much like a digital multitrack, but differs in that there timelines within timelines (polyObjects). This allows for a compositional organization in time that seems to me to be very intuitive, informative, and flexible.
Features:
- SoundObjects are the building blocks within blues score timeline. soundObjects can be lists of notes, algorithmic generators, python script code, csound instrument definitions, and whatever plugins that are developed for blue. these soundObjects may be text based, but they can be completely GUI based as well.
- Timeline allows for visual organization of soundObjects
- Polyobject are objects which hold other soundObjects, and have timelines in themselves. working within them on their timelines and outside of them on the parent timeline help organize and understand the concepts of objective time and relative time between different objects
- The soundOject library allow for instantiating multiple copies of a soundobject, which allows for editting the original object and updating all copies
- noteProcessors allow for modifying the soundObjects properties, i.e. adding 2 to all p4 values, multiplying all p5 values by 6, etc.
- The orchestra manager organizes csound instruments and functions as an instrument librarian. you can selectively choose what instruments to output to the generated csound .csd file, so you can feel free to keep all of your instruments in a large library and output only the ones you need, cutting down on load time for csound.
- Syntax hilighting of csound language
- Use of scripting for user extensibility
- SoundObject freezing - free up CPU cycles by pre-rendering objects
- Microtonal PianoRoll allows editing notes using any Scala scale
- blueLive - work with soundObjects in realtime to experiment with musical ideas or performance

athenaCL 1.4.7

athenaCL 1.4.7

AthenaCL - Employ the power of Csound with complex, organized pitch structures. more>> The athenaCL system is an open-source, object-oriented composition tool written in Python. The system can be scripted and embedded, and includes integrated instrument libraries, post-tonal and microtonal pitch modeling tools, multiple-format graphical outputs, and musical output in Csound, MIDI, audio file, XML, and text formats.
Musical parts are deployed as Textures, layered surface-defining objects containing numerous independent ParameterObjects to control pitch, tempo, rhythm, amplitude, panning, and instrument (Csound) parameters. The system includes an integrated library of Csound instruments, and supports output for external Csound instruments, MIDI, and a variety of alternative formats. Over sixty specialized Generator, Rhythm, and Filter ParameterObjects provide tools for stochastic, chaotic, cellular automata based, markov based, wave-form, fractional noise (1/f), genetic, Xenakis sieve, linear and exponential break-point segments, masks, and various other algorithmic models. ParameterObjects can be embedded in other ParameterObjects to provide powerful dynamic and masked value generation. Textures can be combined and edited, and tuned with algorithmic Temperament objects. Texture Clones allow the filtering and processing of Texture events, performing transformations not possible with parameter generation alone.
