Buffer Delay is a utility plug-in that delays audio by an exact number of sample frames, which can be useful when attempting to sync up audio accounting for delays through certain digital devices.

The plug-in delays incoming audio by an exact number of sample frames. E.g. if the audio rate is 44.1kHz and you select a delay of 1, the audio is delayed by one 44100th of a second.

The Delay 128 parameter sets a delay in multiples of 128 frames. The Delay parameter is added to this to provide fine single frame control.

Classic Delay description

A flexible allround delay effect in VST format. Retro Delay was designed to be a flexible allround delay effect in VST format. Delay Calculator is a simple tool that has been designed to convert bpm into milliseconds according to common note values. Delay Calculator is a simple tool that has been designed to convert bpm into milliseconds according to common note values.

Note values are arranged into four tabs, sixteenths, twelfths, triplets and dotted.

To use, simply enter the bpm into the field and select a note value from
one of the tabs below to display the delay time.

Latency Delay was designed to be an auxiliary latency compensation plug-in that will allow you to compensate latency introduced by modular real-time VST plug-ins and instruments which introduce latency but do not try to report it to the host.

Latency Delay introduces 10000 samples latency itself and delays the audio signal by [10000 minus specified sample value] samples. Please note that host audio application should support latency compensation. This plug-in is only a helper and should be used together with other plug-ins.

Shutdown Delay displays a dialog at Restart and Shut Down time which gives the user five choices:
- do nothing and let the Mac complete the original command;
- cancel and smoothly return to the calling application;
- restart the Macintosh;
- shut down and turn the power off;
- force a quit and attempt to return to the Finder.

Shutdown Delay can also disable the Power Off key so it can t be used to shut down the Mac.

Some programs dont expect the Mac to return from a restart or a shutdown and may crash if you try to cancel the command. Unfortunately, theres no way for Shutdown Delay to know if Cancel will work before you try it and see what happens. On the other hand, it works fine in the Finder (under both systems 6 and 7); since this is the application from which one usually issues these commands, you shouldnt have any problems if you dont use weird applications. If you do, theres an option that disables the Cancel button in any application other than the Finder (thats for you comfort only, since Cancel is never called if you dont explicitly click the button).

I wrote this primarily as an exercise in learning about writing AUs, and Im happy to make the source code available so others can get started too.

The NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY differs from the many other audio effects in that it uses real-time FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation) to split each channel of a stereo signal into as many as 160 separately modifiable frequency bands (even up to 1024 bands internally). The level, delay time and feedback amount for each of this bands can be set separately. Additionally, various modulation effects can be applied to the signal in the frequency domain, which allows for even further sound manipulation.

The NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY offers more than exceptionally great possibilities for creative sound design - from subtle corrections and rich effects to the total alienation of the input signal. Never the less, the NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY is easy to use since all parameters are controlled intuitively and comfortably from a sophisticated graphical user interface. The NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY runs either stand-alone or as a plug-in. It offers professional sound quality and can be fully controlled by MIDI.

Edit Graphs which are intuitive to use and packed with comfortable edit functions are used to set up the delay times and feedback levels for the bands: each of the up to 160 bands per side can be delayed separately and fed back to the delay input with an individual amount. The delay times can be set freely or according to the rhythm via a selectable note grid. The maximum delay time is 12 seconds. The effects achievable with this band delay include rather subtle colorings as well as rhythmic courses of the partial tones and dense, atmospheric sound textures.

The modulation effects of the NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY, which are expandable by plug-ins, are applied in the frequency domain of the audio signal and offer many unusual processing options - such as rotation of the frequency bands or reverb simulation by smearing the amplitude courses of the bands. The modulation effects make a big contribution to the unique sound possibilities of the NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY.

The amplitudes of the bands are also controlled intuitively by drawing in an Edith Graph with the mouse. In contrast to those of conventional filters, the filter curves resulting from this can have any shape and therefore make possible even very extreme filter settings and sweeps. For example, it is possible to completely filter all frequencies while some very narrow frequency bands are still audible. The filter curves can be drawn together or separately for the two channels of a stereo signal.

Separate feedback delays for up to 160 bands per stereo side, unique modulation effects and freely drawable filter curves make the NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY an exceptional flexible, powerful and creative effects tool. All parameters such as filter, delay and feedback settings can be modulated with an integrated LFO or via MIDI. This makes it possible to create very organic and lively effects which can easily be played live.
