The application demonstrates use of two technologies developed by Sloud Inc.: Audio (Acoustic) Fingerprinting and Audio Identification.
Sloud MRM Acoustic Fingerprint (audio fingerprint) is a compact representation or index of an audio record. The audioprint can be used to find particular record in a large music database.
This audioprint knows nothing of the title of the record, or performer, or any other type of textual description of the music. Its based exclusively on the sound data itself.
Sloud MRM Audio Fingerprinting is constructed in two stages:
- Conversion of audiodata to some standard format (PCM);
- Indexing of the PCM data from the beginning to the end.
The current demo works with MP3 files because they seem to be the most commonly used. But any other type of music files can be used just as well and support for other formats is planned.

We are currently building a desktop application that will allow music fans to find and remove duplicates in their music collections. The application will seek multiple copies of the same records based on their content (as opposed to metadata).
System requirements:
- Pentium PII 400 MHz processor (or higher)
- RAM 128 MB

Audio plugin that provides two independent frequency bands. Dynamics processors are essential when recording, mixing and editing music. But when it comes to compressing an entire sum signal, a lot of digital compressors turn out to be unusable, many of them were made to process single-track signals only.
On complex sources they tend to produce a pumping sound, distort or just make your music lifeless. There are manufacturers telling you this is the only compressor youll ever need. Dont believe them. Sound signals are far too complex to be handled by a single device.
Your music deserves care and attention to details. This applies especially to the post-mixdown stage, often referred to as mastering.Endorphin is no universal talent either. It is a specialist for complex sources like a mixdown, after having made minor sonic adjustments and right before burning the track to CD.

I call it an analog-style compressor: endorphin uses models like frequency-dependent nonlinear operation, different harmonics creation stages as well as two basic compressor circuits taken from the analog realm.

BestPractice is a musicians practice tool, to slow down or speed up music, more>> BestPractice is a musicians practice tool, to slow down or speed up music, either from an MP3 file or directly from a CD. Ordinarily the sound is distorted when slowed down our sped up - you get the effect like when playing a 33 rpm record on 45 rpm speed (remember the Chipmunks?). BestPractice tries to correct this, so you can slow down and speed up music, while keeping the original pitch. It is also possible to change the pitch of the music without affecting its tempo. Play along with for instance Eb tuned guitars without retuning your own, or slow down that high-speed guitar solo on a CD that you like to learn.
This splits up in two parts: "why is BestPractice made?" and "why would I use it?"
To start with the first: I saw that there were programs available on the internet that do this, and you have to pay for them ($20 to $50). Since I thought: I can do that, I had to prove it, right?
And for part two - well, there are probably more reasons, but those I can think of are:
Your favorite musician plays a solo that you want to study, but you cant figure it out on normal speed
Youd like to transcribe music, but need to slow it down to hear it right
You can tune the song to your instrument instead of the other way around
Youd like to sing along, but you need to change the key to match your voice
Youre learning a foreign language and youd like to slow down the spoken examples
Youre like me and like to fool around with audio and/or digital signal processing

It has numerous methods for selection (brushes, flood-fills, spray, shapes, spline curves, color proximity and other advanced methods).
DDS V2 offers over 50 blending modes and it allows the user to create more of his own.

Gravitational Lensing 1.0 is a powerful, perfect and popular science program. Einstein's General Theory of Relativity demonstrates that a large mass can deform spacetime and bend the path of light. So, a very massive object, such as a cluster of galaxies can act as a gravitational lens. When light passes through the cluster from an object lying behind it, the light is bent and focused to produce an image or images of the source. The image may be magnified, distorted, or multiplied by the lens, depending upon the position of the source with respect to the lensing mass.
The characteristics of the gravitationally lensed image depend upon the alignment of the observer, the lens and the background object. If the alignment is perfect, the resulting image is an Einstein Ring. With this program, one can draw images to see the effect of gravitational lensing. You can easily test the effects of several parameters by changing them and redrawing the image.

Vorras Antibot is an image generation program that will help you prevent automatic form submission by robots.
If your web site is being overwhelmed with spam, automatic registrations, automatic forum or classified ad submissions etc., Vorras Antibot can solve this problem by introducing a picture in your HTML forms that only a human can recognize.
How does it work?
Vorras Antibot generates a random sequence of alphanumeric characters and a picture in PNG format that shows this sequence. It returns the filename of the picture and the sequence in encrypted (hashed) format.
The filename and encrypted sequence can then be stored in your HTML form. The user who attempts to fill out the form has to look at the picture and type in the sequence he sees.
When the form is submitted the sequence the user typed in is encrypted as well (hashed) and compared to the original sequence. If the sequences match the user passes the test, else it is necessary to re-try.
Vorras Antibot uses pre-existing PNG files to form the character sequence in PNG format. These files are graphic files of alphanumeric characters in PNG format, and are provided when you download Vorras Antibot. If you want to change the existing PNG files you can replace with your own as follows:
- Use any graphics package to create png files for all letters and numbers and name them as a.png, b.png,..., 0.png, 1.png, ...
- Upload them on your server and place them in the data subdirectory inside the Vorras Antibot directory.
- Run the parseidat.py script. This will generate the intermediate format files a.dat, b.dat etc. necessary to run Vorras Antibot.
Please note that Vorras Antibot requires some scripting knowledge to be incorporated in your CGI scripts.

- Vorras Antibot distorts the image to make it resistant to pattern recognition algorithms.

How does it work?
Vorras Antibot generates a random sequence of alphanumeric characters and a picture in PNG format that shows this sequence. It returns the filename of the picture and the sequence in encrypted (hashed) format.
The filename and encrypted sequence can then be stored in your HTML form. The user who attempts to fill out the form has to look at the picture and type in the sequence he sees.
When the form is submitted the sequence the user typed in is encrypted as well (hashed) and compared to the original sequence. If the sequences match the user passes the test, else it is necessary to re-try.

The algorithm is based on the analysis of the Fourier-spectra of the signal time segments during all the record and on the calculation of the character bound frequency on every time segment. Based on the analysis of spectral statistical properties and on a number of criteria, the source of the audio record is determined . if it is an original or lossy encoded audio file. The testing is carried out using both modern and old records of poor quality. It has shown a good accuracy of the algorithm, which differentiates original records and that reconstructed from lossy encoded data.
It is no secret that the Internet and file-exchanging networks are literally overloaded with music. The plenty of various formats which compress music files just favors this situation. Files in formats with lossy encoding and the highest degree of compression, like MP3, have got the greatest prevalence. While playing such files using cheap acoustic systems one can hardly distinguish their dissimilarity from the original ones, but all the distortions become evident when listening such disks on a Hi-Fi systems or using stereo headphones, especially if one has an opportunity to compare a record with its original. That is why when purchasing musical compact-discs a question always arises: whether the disc is a pirate fake or not. To answer this question, spectral characteristics of the signal can be used, because in contrast to the original records, the lossy algorithms significantly distort the spectral characteristics of the signal.<<less
