It provides the most commonly required functionality of the unix nslookup command, i.e. translation between IP addresses and hostname (domain name).

DNS Lookup does not require any installation and it provides two lookup types - by name and by address.

DNS::ZoneParse is a Perl module to parse and manipulate DNS Zone Files.

ABSTRACT

This class represents a configuration for a domain name service daemon (DNS).

A domain name service daemon configuration knows about the zone information actively provided to the service users as well as lots of other configuration data.

This class allows to represent this configuration data in a more or less generic way. Another class, the file adaptor, then knows how to write the information to a file in a daemon specific format.

So far this class is strongly related to the ISCs Bind domain name service daemon but it is inteded to get more generic in upcoming releases. Your help is welcome.

Mabrys Dns/NET component gives you easy access to all of the information provided by name servers. Written entirely in managed code, Dns/NET is the perfect solution for applications requiring access to the wealth of information provided by name servers and which cannot be retrieved using the primitive functionality of the .Net Frameworks System.Net.Dns class.

Name servers can, upon request, return a number of types of information. Each type of information is encapsulated in a Dns/NET class, providing easy access to request-specific information. Dns/NET name server related resource classes include the following

CanonicalName - canonical name for the host.
Location - the location of the name server.
MailDestination - host that has a mail agent for the domain that should be able to deliver mail for the domain.
MailExchange - host willing to act as a mail exchange for the owner name. Includes the preference given to this resource record among others at the same owner.
MailForwarder - host that has a mail agent for the domain, which will accept mail for forwarding to the domain.

Not all classes are listed above there are too many for this short description. Additionally, Dns/NET provides in the NameServers property and the NameServer class a list of the name servers available on the local system.

And, like all of Mabrys /NET Internet components, Dns/NET supports both the synchronous and asynchronous programming models.

DHCP-DNS update DNS servers according to DHCP requests.

This version is an upgrade of the real v0.52 version. It only includes support for servers that manage several domains (multiple domain name). It is no longer a need to tell the name of the domain the DNS server administrates.

One just tells the path to your dhcpd.conf file and the perl script manages alone to find the domain names (option domain-name).

A problem could occur when puting a host from a LAN to another. This problem does not come from the perl script, but from the DHCP server: in old DHCP servers, the implementation does not totally respect the RFC2131 that specifies that to release a lease, the client must provide its UID and its current IP address.

Older DHCP servers were releasing leases only according to UIDs, and were investigating IP addresses only if no lease for the UID had been found. This problem is solved since the version 2.0pl2.

However, it is very easy to patch an old server to make it compliant, and thats what has been done in the version 2.0b1pl6 version available on this site.

DNS Watcher is a program designed to monitor and query DNS servers. DNS Watcher is mainly intended for use by webmasters and website operators to keep watch on their DNS entries and make sure the name servers are responding correctly.

DNS Watcher allows you to enter a list of server names and host names, and DNS Watcher will query those servers periodically to make sure the servers are providing the correct results.

DNS Watcher also includes an interactive query tool, similar to the unix/linux "nslookup" and "dig" commands, but with a windows GUI interface.

DNS Redirector will act as DNS server for network clients regardless of their operating system. DNS Redirector should always be the first DNS server that clients use and not installed behind other DNS servers.

Only when used as an initial redirector (typically in a wireless HotSpot environment to show a welcome or advertisement page) the machine running DNS Redirector and all network clients must be in the same IP address space and cannot be separated by a router or firewall.

This is necessary to ensure DNS Redirector can track clients joining and leaving the network.

Net::DNS::RR::A is a DNS A resource record. Net::DNS is a DNS resolver implemented in Perl. It allows the
programmer to perform nearly any type of DNS query from a Perl script. For details and examples, please read the Net::DNS manual page.

Net::DNS does not depend on any C libraries. However, if possible Net::DNS tries to link against a C-library that is supplied with the code. This provides a notable speed increase.

DNS Thing is a free utility that provides Windows users with a way to make common DNS queries using a graphical user interface. It can provide frequently queried information like looking up the IP address for a hostname or determining the MX record for a domain.

DNS Thing uses the Nslookup utility as an underlying technology to perform the actual DNS queries.
