SVCD2DVDMPG is intended to help users to author DVDRs based on (S)VCD content. The standard process for achieving this is quite convoluted (when achieving high compatibility) and involves numerous steps. These steps require a lot of human intervention and are typically:
* rip (S)VCD .bin images to mpgs
* demux mpgs to elementary streams (ES)
* resample the audio ES from 44.1 KHz to 48 KHz
* patch the video ES/PS to DVD horizontal resolution
* optionally remux the ES streams into a mpg program stream (PS)
* Repatch VOB files after DVD authoring
Given that we can, in theory, put 5 SVCD and many more VCD images onto one DVDR, were talking a lot of work both computationally and - more importantly - by the user. All this before we even start authoring the DVD!

It has taken the freeware package you've grown to know and love and added numerous features. Backup Blu-ray to for example a DVDR(4.3 or 7.95GB) or a BDR(25GB). Requires ffdshow and avisynth. This is not a DECRYPTER, use for Blu-ray decryption.
Enhancements:
- Added code to increase output size prediction accuracy. A WARNING to those using custom sizes in order to make "adjusted" output, -you will likely oversize/undersize. The actual size of the output should now be closer to that specified in the selected target parameter. A special thanks to lithiumus for his help in the sizing adjustments.
- Changed the default values for AC3. Reencoding will now be done at 640Kbs for 5.1 (rather than 448Kbs) and 224Kbs for 2.0 (rather than 192Kbs). Also the setup dialog option has changed to enable 448Kbs as a secondary option (previously 640Kbs).
- Fixed an inconsistency in the percentage reporting to the status bar when in minimized mode.
- Added a LOG entry when BD-RB cant find the X264 window handle. This is just to clearly identify if the 50% complete problem is a result of a failed attempt to retrieve the handle.
- Corrected a bug that could under certain conditions prevent playback of streams that had secondary video on the original disc.

Nearly all dvd movies disks are encrypted with CSS (Content Scrambling System) and your dvd movie will have locked sectors denying us access unless we go through a process known as authentication. Once thats out of the way we can then have access and get down to the job of actually decrypting the dvd.
Id just like to start by saying I have now dropped claddvd.net and pgc.NET because in themselves they are rather out-dated. You can now use rip.NET which will allow you to rip all dvds, even the latest ArCCos titles. claddvd.NET has been around for years, it worked as a fancy front-end to vstrip and work very well for many years. As time has went on and as protections have changed claddvd.NET has become less useful which is why I wrote pgc.NET to just deal with the program chains for AVI conversions as this worked well. I have now changed the third party program used in claddvd.NET and updated pgc.NET, amalgamated them and came up with a new ripper, rip.NET.
rip.NET looks very similar to pgc.NET and does, and works, the same way for program chain ripping though Ive now added a FULL button which will allow you to rip the full dvd to your chosen folder. claddvd.NET used vstrip for this, rip.NET now uses DVDFab Decrypter as this deals with the latest dvd protections. Just download the latest DVDFab Decrypter from the downloads page, install it, you can then delete the short-cuts to it or whatever as rip.NET will automatically call it when needed with all the correct settings which means you can leave rip.NET to control all of your dvd ripping needs. rip.NET is a .NET application and as such requires the .NET FRAMEWORK v2.0 to be installed.
If you intend to rip a dvd movie or video clip from a dvd for the purpose of converting, to avi for example, then you need a ripper that will rip in such a way that only the relevant PGC is ripped and processed. Do NOT use raw vob files for converting, youll get unexpected results. You need to rip using a PGC ripper. This will allow you to select the exact, and relevant, program chain (PGC) and save/decrypt it to your hard drive as one nice big file ready for you to further process and/or convert to whatever format you so desire, this is what rip.NETs PGC ripping mode is used for, more on this below. If you intend to make a backup (copy) of the dvd then just put your dvd in the drive, click SCAN so the dvd contents get displayed, select your destination folder (where you want the dvd ripped to) and click the FULL button, rip.NET will automatically run DVDFab Decrypter which will then rip your dvd to your hard drive, thats it, dvd ripped, now just go to the DVD Backup section of this website to see how to now write and/or encode this dvd back to a DVDR.

Media Code Speed Edit allows you to change the write speed for your media and to add new media codes to your firmware Media Code Speed Edit will allow you to easily change the write speed for your media and to add new media codes to your firmware by renaming an already available media code.
The new media code name can be entered manually or can be imported from the DVD Identifier media code output to be sure that no special characters are lost. This kind of media code renaming will remove the original media code name from the patched firmware, so it is no longer supported by the firmware.
Real adding of additional media code names would mean to shift and extend all internal media code tables or patching all media code scanner for all supported firmwares, which would be a quite complex task.
Media Code Speed Edit allows strategy swapping to increase the write speed by double clicking the media code and selecting an alternative write strategy from a list.
Depending on the firmware this swapping is lossless, which means the media code of the choosen, usually faster write strategy is not changed. On some firmwares this swapping is done by renaming the media codes, so the choosen media code can not be used anymore.

<<lessThe new media code name can be entered manually or can be imported from the DVD Identifier media code output to be sure that no special characters are lost. This kind of media code renaming will remove the original media code name from the patched firmware, so it is no longer supported by the firmware.
Real adding of additional media code names would mean to shift and extend all internal media code tables or patching all media code scanner for all supported firmwares, which would be a quite complex task.
Media Code Speed Edit allows strategy swapping to increase the write speed by double clicking the media code and selecting an alternative write strategy from a list.
Depending on the firmware this swapping is lossless, which means the media code of the choosen, usually faster write strategy is not changed. On some firmwares this swapping is done by renaming the media codes, so the choosen media code can not be used anymore.
